The journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step...
"W here are you from?" is my least favorite question. The fact is, I couldn't tell you. Some people chronicle their lives using relationships, jobs, or family changes. For a military brat, life is a list of states and countries, landmarks that have their own seperate and exclusive snapshots of friends and memories. My snapshots start in Texas, then go to Spain, California, South Carolina, Germany, Tampa, New York, and back to Cali.
Some of us brats are good at staying in contact with friends after we have moved but that has rarely been me. You get used to starting your life over from scratch and it seems easier than holding on. However, I have been lucky to run into old friends on occassion and realize how small the world really is.
N eedless to say, I love to travel. I've been too many places to name, but my favorite trips were in Australia, New Zealand, Italy, and Costa Rica. I love it! Having spent my high school years in Ramstein, Germany, I miss all of the beautiful buildings of Europe that are rich in history. I miss the green fields, the autobahn, and the culture. A well-manicured golf course is the closest thing to a green field I'm going to find in LA...

I am currently a doctoral student at Johns Hopkins studying Epidemiology and research HIV/AIDS risks (social, psychological, and behavioral) in urban or disandvantaged populations (mainly homeless, drug-using or low socioeconomic population). I never thought in a million years I would be asking strangers explicit questions about their sex lives but it is an interesting job and at the end of the day, I know that I am making a difference in my own small way.
S o everyone in LA is involved in the entertainment industry in some way. Instead of asking someone what they do, you can just jump to the part where you ask what part of the entertainment industry they are in. I got bit by the bug and did some modeling and commercial work when I first moved to Cali. Then I got tired of being judged by things that didn't matter to me and decided to have a career that was more merit-based than schmoozing-based. I'll leave Hollywood to those that can't imagine doing anything else. It's too bad though; I love the creative aspect of acting. The business of acting, I can do without...
