We have a soundproof vocal booth especially designed for rappers and singers, but also suitable for acoustic instruments. Built using award-winning NASA sound-proof technology (Hy-Tech Acousticoat sound-absorbing paint) on the interior and exterior to absorb echo and prevent unwanted outside noise from affecting your recordings, an extra measure of acoustically treated studio foam interior to give you clear, immaculate musical sound, and acoustically insulated walls to further keep unwanted noise out of your recordings.
Inside the booth is a high-class studio quality Rode NT1-A condenser microphone, known as the quietest microphone in the world(which means even less unwanted machine noise in your recordings), accompanied with a state-of-the-art pop filter to reduce air pops from "p" sounds. The mic is connected via a gold-plated mogami cable to a tube pre-amp which adds analogue eq, warmth, light tube compression, crisper highs and tighter bass to the vocals.
The sound engineer and producer of ILL-LEGIT RECORDS STUDIOS, Zachary Scott “Malpraktiz†Armstrong, has been experienced in the field of sound-engineering and music production for approximately 7 years, since his childhood. He grew up on a background of musical theory taking music lessons, plays acoustic and electric guitar, keyboard, drums, turntables, and is an expert composer / instrumental/ beat maker, lyricist, and vocalist in the genres of hip-hop and metal known as Dr. ILL (www.HeavyMetalRap.com). He has recorded and mixed & mastered the Award-Winning Calliope Magazine CD for South Aiken High School from 2006-2008, a collage of various genres ranging from classical to hip-hop to metal. He has worked at the USCA Etheridge Center Theatre as a Live Sound Board Operator for two years and was awarded Best Designer award for his Sound Design in “Good Night Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet.†He has also recorded numerous artists from Columbia to Augusta to Aiken, including his own label artists and himself.

Please Call Zach at (803) 646-2195 to schedule your session time and then immediately purchase your time slot below with paypal. Time slots must be pre-paid through paypal before session within 12 hours of scheduling to prevent your time slot from being taken.
Purchasing
a Studio Time Slot
After you schedule your time of appointment by phone, please use the drop-down menu below to select the time length of your session. In the Text Box below please key in the time of appointment you have selected (ex. 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.). Click "Add to Cart" and continue with payment.
After Purchase, your Time Slot may be displayed publicly on our page in the "upcoming shows" section so othes know the time is taken.

Additional Song Mixing & Mastering Fees may be payed during appointment in person, if song mixing & mastering is desired. (runs anywhere from $5.00-$20.00 a song depending on number of tracks, for average recordings it is usually $10.00 per song). No tweaking or mixing & mastering will be applied until fee is paid. This includes level monitoring, compression, panning, EQ, professional effects, cutting and pasting, pitch correction, and normalization for optimal volume. If no mastering fee is paid, mixes will be rendered "as is."
