My first and foremost hero will always be my Gus-friend, who left me last month after losing a battle with cancer, which I am still not handling well. Gus taught me so many things that no one else could have. We only had a little over 2 short years together, but saying goodbye to her was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my entire life. It seemed like there was never a time without Gus and that there never would be, but now she's gone. I will always be thankful to her for my lessons in love, courage, friendship, and the value of ALL life regardless of the creatures ability to speak in human speak, among many other things. She was always there for me, and was never afraid of hurting my feelings (or giving me hives). She's stolen pokki right from my mouth a few times, and I was always happy to share with my furry little friend. It's hard for many people to understand the love a person can feel for an animal, but those people have simply never been loved by an animal. It's not much different than being loved by a child, except they don't eventually grow up and tell you how much they hate you: they don't speak our language, remember? =) I'd be more than happy to learn to speak theirs.
My heroes include the pretty girl that makes me smile, my five amazing companions (of the rat type, haha), the anime characters that keep my life interesting, the few people I know I can depend on, the love of my life, and Jim Henson. "Simple is good." Other heroes include Bob & Jenna Torres, Josh Harper, Isa Chandra Moskowitz, and Josh Hooten & his lovely lady Michelle Schwegmann.
People who leave me stuff usually put me in a good mood, sadly enough. So, they get some hero points.
