Ahh Beer - the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems.

About Me

Well, I've been in Alaska for over a year now. What do I think of it? I love the state, the outdoor opportunities, my friends, skiing in Valdez, Snowmachining in Cantwell / Summit, Fishing the Gulkana, duck hunting in Delta, Canoing the Chatanika (any cool river, really) hiking and rafting in Denali, and shooting cans of Coors Light with my Red Ryder BB-Gun (I'm getting more 'hick' the longer I live here, but really, bb-gun competitions are more fun than you think!) What I don't like? Living in North Pole doesn't exactly provide a ton of opportunities to meet people, you know? Either way, I'm having an awesome time here and making the most of it.

My favorite thing to do is make people laugh. Now I'm not claiming to be some sort of comedian, but seriously, it makes me happy... I think because I feel so good when I laugh (at other people, Simpsons, Family Guy, my friend's jokes and/or misfortunes). I love trying new things, especially outdoors. I just bought a new canoe and am looking for someone / some group to go on canoe trips with. I guess I'm pretty sarcastic sometimes too, which gets me in trouble when people mistake my sarcasm for how I really feel about them. Doh!

What I want out of life is just to enjoy what I do and who I'm with, and the rest should fall into place.

My Interests

Cool people, Travelling and seeing new places, Flying, Skiing, Hunting, Fishing, Camping, Snowmachining, Canoeing, Hiking, (ok, I could've just said "Anything outdoors), I enjoy a good beer while hanging out with good friends, and shooting empty beer cans with my new Red Ryder lever-action carbine air rifle with a compass in the stock (Quote, anyone??)

I'd like to meet:

Any fun, sarcastic, adventurous person who loves to laugh, drink, and be merry, and go places and do stuff. Wait, that's totally cliche and makes me want to puke....

Any sarcastic, intelligent person who enjoys a good beer or bottle of wine and who is looking to be mentally / physically challenged... wait, that sounds like I'm looking for someone who aspires to be retarded one day.. I'm looking for someone who provides a challenge to me - someone to look forward to seeing, because I don't know what's coming next, you know?

As a side note: If you hate the hand life dealt you and/or love your 8 cats, I probably don't want to meet you. Don't get me wrong, I'm compassionate, but if you're counting on someone you don't know to dig you out of your depressing life, you should probably call the 800 number instead. There should be an 800 number for those of you owning more than 2 cats too.

Music:

Here's the deal with me and music: I don't usually listen to the words, I listen to the music. Consequently I have some weird eclectic music tastes. That being said, new stuff I recently listen to: 30 Seconds to Mars, Red Hot Chili Peppers (Stadium Arcadium kicks ass!!), AFI, Coheed and Cambria, The Killers

Movies:

Caddyshack, Adam Sandler movies, Office Space, Dumb and Dumber (you know you like it too), Zoolander , Braveheart, Any Given Sunday, the original Star Wars trilogy... the new ones don't compare, Big Lebowski, Boondock Saints, Kill Bill (1&2) and about 50 others - too many to list!

Television:

Favorite: Simpsons, Family Guy, Daily Show, Seinfeld, the OC (I can't help it - I'm hooked)Loathe: Cribs, Road Rules, and Everyone does NOT love Raymond!! and when will girls learn: There is NOTHING in Will and Grace that a guy (make that a STRAIGHT guy) could ever relate to. guys will never like this show.

Books:

If you like sarcasm like I do, you will LOVE David Sedaris. I spun through "Dress your Family in Corduroy and Denim" in under a week (fast for me :) and just got another by him.If you like human / political psychology, a book called "What's so Great About America" by Dinesh D'Souza is AWESOME!! The first part is a story about an immigrant from India (the author) who lived the American Dream and made it in this country. He has since analyzed all those who didn't make it and came up with some absolutely amazing fact-based conclusions.

Heroes:

My grandfather - maintained perpetual optimism despite a failing liver and cancer. In his prime, he was your typical "Friend to everyone, enemy to no one". No matter how mad my grandma/mom/aunt/uncle got, he would always keep his cool and have a rational explanation on hand. He is really what I aspire to be... minus the skin/liver cancer.

My Blog

Do you know Chuck Norris?

A few reminders about Chuck Norris: If you ask Chuck Norris what time it is, he always says, "Two seconds 'til." After you ask, "Two seconds 'til what?" he roundhouse kicks you in the face. When Chuck...
