About Me

ANDY ON ANDY:Life for me literally changed in one July day. A big chapter in life ended and a new one began personally, professionally, on every level. The result? Recently got engaged; The small business (or dream I should say) that I started out of college by 2 of us in a small office in my nephew's room has now grown to 20 of us and opportunities are endless. What seemed like such a lofty goal, became real. What looked so far away all of a sudden was in your face. Faith, which I relied on for most of my struggles in life, left me since I started college, but found its way back. Focus, drive, will, and family power me these days. I am happy to have found great success and always believed I would. "Don't ever give up" keeps playing in my mind. Lots of great people and experiences have brought me here. Blessed to have gotten to this point and lucky to be traveling where I'm traveling. For those who know me well, I'm still late for everything, opinionated, talkative, stubborn at times, affectionate, motivated, mind always thinking of some new idea, passionate, truthful, hard-working, a yankees fan, say "you know" a lot, quick tempered, restless, and still risking everything to make it in life...

My Interests

I doubt my politics will ever change though i will say that the more money you make the easier it is to buy into republican views. I can see why a lot of people get drawn in, but here are my views anyway:1. I dont believe in abortion. 2. Taxes are the biggest drain a government can put on its people (in fact most people work 25% of the year just to pay them, if not more) and then you wonder why finance guys like me are trying to devise ways to get around them, to walk the line, to interpret every law in such a way that removes some of the strain left by people who tax you and have no accountability for the way the money is spent. 3. I sure as hell don't believe in welfare. I think it belittles a group of people into perpetual failure. I cannot think of a better way to sponsor and promote failure than with our current welfare system. 4. I believe that plenty has been done for minorities in the last 50 years, enough to make it, so its time to step up to the plate and make something happen, no excuses. There are too many minorities in college around the country underperforming with the opportunities they have. Just a short time ago, people were dying for the chance to enter college, to become educated, to own a home, to make a good living, and to promote their family. Every person who doesn't do well in school, who doesn't fight to educate themeselves, who doesn't take care of their responsibility, who doesn't take care of their family, doesn't understand what is on the line. They have failed to understand the fight of years past and the fight that continues. Poverty can be erased in one generation in this country. It only takes one. It takes that father or that mother to step up and die to get their children the opportunity to succeed, to form a positive influence that can change the course of one's future. My parents did that for me. They sacrificed every last thing for my brothers and sisters to succeed. Anything less than perfect for them is unacceptable. 5. Hiphop is the single greatest factor ruining a young minority culture. It teaches our youth the wrong priorities and presents an image to the world that perpetuates stereotypes and racism. It's sad to see that people can't distinguish between real life and entertainment. There is more honor in getting the new Jordan's than moving ahead in life so i have no pity. 6. I believe in a very strict separation of church and state, greater than that which we have now. In no way should religion affect the government of the people. 7. If two guys want to hold hands and kiss they're free to do so. We should all have the same rights regardless of sexual preference, and thats means marriage too. This will happen inevitably. 8. I cant apologize for capitalism (no matter how bad it can seem sometimes) because there hasnt been a better system created. I could never justify equal compensation for a toll booth worker and an engineer so therefore I could not justify communism or socialism, or any other ism. I can't argue the points for either. I can sparsely do it for capitalism. So where does that put me labelwise? I'm not soft nor am I narrow-minded. You can label me as you wish...

I'd like to meet:

Whatever it was that put us here...

Music:

On Music:My collection is 480 GB. Basically, I'm competing with radio stations now. 8,136 albums and counting. Music, and the importance in my life is beyond explanation.

Movies:

On Movies:I don't get out as much as I would like, but have managed to see the Good Shepherd, The Departed, and a few other movies lately. I tend to gravitate towards movies that make me think.

Television:

I watch 3 shows full-time, and never miss an episode:1. Entourage - Best show on TV, hands down. Ari gone = show dead. Business is business. 2. Sportscenter - Every morning. 3. Grey's Anatomy - Confession - I've missed the entire new season - used to be a die hard.Guilty Pleasures:Fucking MTV [Real World, Laguna Beach, Real World/Road Rules Challenge]. They're addicting...

Books:

THE COLOR OF WATER, but lately, I've been paying a little more time to the bible. A bit of renewed sense of faith if you will. Searching for a little more truth and understanding in the face of a world we wake up to every day. There simply has to be something better than this...I believe in reading to expand the mind. Reading others helps us become better writers, more criticla thinkers, and more knowledgable with words and subjects. It helps us develop a base for our own ideas and values.

Heroes:

Father: gave his lifes goals and ambitions for us to be raised in a small Oviedo neighborhood with no regard for himself. He was the one person in my generation that dedicated his life in a way that every generation needs to stop some previous ignorance. I was given an opportunity to do well in life, something that I take with me every time i step foot in my office.
