For the Los Angeles based band, Collision, injecting inspiration into new songs is never a problem. With musicians from some of the biggest and most talented bands in the world collaborating with current members Sash Kuzma (vocals), Donovan Whitworth (bass) and Ken Mundy (drums), not to mention their own impressive personal resumes, making impressively exciting and dynamic music comes surprisingly easy.
Some of the names that have contributed to Collisions recent studio tracks include Good Charlotte drummer Dean Butterworth, Queens Of The Stone Ages Natasha Schneider an accomplished producer in her own right who has recently cut tracks with Gwen Stefani as well, and former Nine Inch Nails member Alex Carapetis. In addition to playing in Collision, I write music for film and television, cites bassist Donovan Whitworth, who recently had 10 songs placed in the hit film Wedding Crashers, and it gives me the opportunity to work with a lot of marquis musicians. Sometimes when Im working with a musician that I particularly click with Ill ask them if theyre interested in collaborating with Collision. Were lucky to have such amazing resources really.
Charismatic frontman Sash Kuzma moved from Europe to Los Angeles a couple of years ago. He soon hooked up with musical director of t.A.T.u. and former Liz Phair keyboardist Sven Martin. I was trying to put a band together and at the same time demo-ing songs for t.A.T.u. with Sven. We were asking friends to play on the demos when I came up with the concept of Collision. Inviting some of the great musicians I meet to be a part of what I think is some amazing music! Wanting to have a rotation of musicians but also needing a core rhythm section to be the nucleus of the group, Sash asked Whitworth and drummer Ken Mundy, a regular session drummer for the group as well as for Godsmack and Avenged Sevenfold producer, Mudrock.
Taking from a wealth of influences from My Chemical Romance to Soundgarden to Depeche Mode to Avenged Sevenfold, and performed with the excitement and veracity of some of the best musicians on the planet, Collision has recently wowed audiences on their European Tour, which included a sold out New Years Eve festival audience of 15,000. With some new songs under their belt from recent studio recordings, Collision is looking forward to stirring up American audiences during their upcoming North American tour.
