I really do enjoy a wide range of activities... just not enough time or money to do anything. Did a bit of hiking, camping, canoing when I was younger. Been riding ATV's with a friend a few times which is a cool rush (if only he would go a bit FASTER! WOOO!) Tried rock climbing once which I liked but just didn't seem to have the opportunity for again. Used to go skiing quite a bit (downhill snow type not water behind a boat type). I LOVE IT!! But yet again time and money killed that... (PS since I have finally been skiing in Colorado, New England skiing sucks...) I think I could Bungee jump and sky dive given the chance but who knows. I have jumped off the top of a railroad bridge into a river, which was at least a 50 ft drop! I've tried surfing but I find it hard to learn without any real waves... Hampton Beach sucks for that. Mostly now I play games (yes, the dreaded relationship killer! VIDEO GAMES!) like sport games and other console games as well as computer games (Medal of Honor is a good series) but also MMO's (currently playing World of Warcraft). I do try to do as much REAL activity as I can. Hockey is my first love for sports then football and baseball. I pretty much jump at the chance to play any of them. Of course I am a big Red Sox and Patriots fan. I am begrudgingly a Bruins fan but it's tough when you hate the owner and what he is doing to the team. YOU HEAR THAT JEREMY JACOBS YOU GREEDY ASSHOLE?!! STOP SCREWING AROUND AND PLEASE THE FANS!!!! We miss Cam and Ray... Can't think of any more right now, so I will have to continue when I have a clearer head... (I figured I didn't need to say sex was one of my interests... ok, main interest...)
My Sugar Momma! Let the High Rollin' begin!!
As far as specific people, I have already meet a few idols (Cam Neely and Ray Bourque and some others) but I would love to sit and talk music with Neil Peart. Jack Black and Kyle Gass would be freakin awesome to meet. That's right, I wanna rock out with The D!! And even though I am not a really big "car guy" (or whatever you want to call it) I bet hanging with Christopher Titus would be cool. Oh, and Bruce Campbell, of course (thanks DGP for making me think of those two). I will keep thinking on this one 'cause I'm sure there are tons of people that just aren't coming to mind at this time.
I have played drums in bands and singing is an extreme passion, not to mention I can play a little guitar and piano so suffice it to say music is my lifeblood. Some people are creative artists but me, I'm a performer. I just love to play!
My tastes are pretty eclectic to say the least, such as Rush, Marillion (w/original singer, Fish), King's X, Yes, Queen, Sting/The Police, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, The Beatles/Paul McCartney and the Wings, The Doors, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix (still one of the all time greatest), Stevie Ray Vaughn (like Jimi, smooth as hell and died too young), Steve Vai (his playing just blows my mind!), Joe Satriani, Primus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Live, Incubus, Deftones, Rage Against the Machine, Disturbed, Korn, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Staind, Tenacious D, Weird Al and of course, the greatest of them all, Frank Zappa. From time to time I still like to listen to some good old Heavy Metal like Iron Maiden, Queensryche and Ozzy/Black Sabbath. Classical, Jazz and Blues can also be found in my music collection. I really do listen to just about anything...
I took some Theatre in college and would like to try my hand at voice acting, like voice-overs for commercials or cartoon voices so this may be an unusual statement but I LOVE MOVIES! Even a lot of the chick flicks... er, I mean romantic comedies. Comedy, Action, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Drama. Whatever, I'm into it as long as it's well done, yet it's odd that I hate Hollywood's idea of what makes a movie good. They feel the need to water things down and make them too general to try to draw in bigger crowds. So by trying to please everyone they end up with a weak piece of shit movie. Oh well, at least some director's have the balls to stick to their vision. Lord of the Rings was amazing for instance. Let's do the list thing, shall we?
In no particular order, The Crow, Sin City, 300, Army of Darkness, Shaun of the Dead, Desperado, Silence of the Lambs, View Askewniverse movies (you know... Kevin Smith stuff!), The original Star Wars Trilogy (Empire IS the best!), The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (like I mentioned before, aren't you paying attention?!), Chronicles of Narnia, Gladiator, Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, The Matrix (well duh...), Blade Runner, Die Hard trilogy, Rocky movies, Fight Club (but I can't talk about it, shhh...), most Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li movies, Adam Sandler stuff, etc. This list could go on!
One that I had almost forgotten: Dead Poets Society. I forgot how truly remarkable this movie is and how much it affected my life. It taught me to try to look at everything from different perspectives. Unfortunately I haven't always been able to live life to the fullest...
I like TV of course but I don't really watch any shows regularly. About the only show I try to make sure I catch is How I Met Your Mother. I miss Titus and wish I watched Firefly when it was on (both way too short lived!!!) and Family Guy was a riot but I have been pretty disappointed since it came back. Man, there are just far too many good shows to list. From older shows like MASH and All in the Family to things like The Simpsons, Night Court, Seinfeld, News Radio, Scrubs, Rescue Me, CSI, Quantum Leap, Highlander, Star Trek: The Next Gen... Stuff that's so obvious it seems silly to have to say I like them. Yet I just did... Hmmm.
I don't read a lot of novels often but I do read comics (geek test). Top of the list right now are Batman, Punisher, Daredevil, Conan, and Walking Dead. I really wish Frank Miller would write some more Sin City books. Poison Elves is a great title, though it is sad that creator Drew Hayes has died (R.I.P. you wonderful bastard). The Marvel "Ultimate" line has been pretty good all around. I read a lot of titles though. X-Men titles (Wolverine, of course), Avengers (current line up specifically), Spider-Man, Batman related titles (Nightwing, Robin, etc.) Superman, JLA, Outsiders, Teen Titans, some of the Star Wars titles plus many more...
For more main stream writers I like Poe's work a lot(I really should read more from him). I do enjoy Shakespeare even if I don't always fully understand it... or perhaps I should say take the time to. I have read some Stephen King (just started The Dark Tower). Douglas Adams books are brilliant! The Lord of the Rings and Narnia series were pretty interesting to say the least. Ummm, I remember reading some books/short stories when I was in school that were good I think... like some Ray Bradbury stuff I think. Something about the macabre style of writing fascinates me. Ayn Rand's Anthem and Orwell's 1984 are interesting reads. Of course, as people who know me might guess, I loved Dante's Inferno. I'm sure there are plenty of others that are just not coming to mind. Oh well.
Ok, I have finally read the Harry Potter books like everyone else in the universe... Oh and I have been reading Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. Awesome shit!
This is tough... My heroes are anyone who can tough it out and follow their dreams far enough to make them a reality. I don't know how to...
