I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

i have freckles on my knees where extremely ripped fishnets used to be.
i see fast driving as a form of dancing
i consider myself a singer but apparently you wouldn't know it when i'm drunk

i believe in causes. i also believe we can be passionate about different ones without making either of us a bad person.

[i care too much and trust too little]

sometimes i giggle aloud and bite my lip in suppressed anticipation of cheesy lines in romantic comedies

i think reading out loud to someone is extremely sexy. try it.
i aspire towards an ee-cummings-esque life, but usually end up with one that reminds me of bukowski

Dear child, I only did to you what the sparrow
did to you; I am old when it is fashionable to be
young; I cry when it is fashionable to laugh.
I hated you when it would have taken less courage
to love

My Interests

thrift shopping, good wine, human rights

mail that actually comes in a mailbox. you know, like the one outside your house.

singing a capella, traveling as frequently as my meager paycheck will allow, butterflies in my stomach, looking back on not-so-perfect moments with utter sentimentality, reading bukowski out loud while intoxicated, dancing to indie rock in dark spaces, cooking

I'd like to meet:

fast music to move me out of innertia. someone who can stun me senseless with their dancing skills. or eloquence. or witty offhanded conversation.

cute boys in fast cars ... people who appreciate sarcasm.

those who don't let their fear control them and call it philosophy

robots whose hearts glow with inner robot love.

those with grand gestures that never quite materialize.
hold up a boombox outside my window and we'll talk.

Music:

death cab for cutie, al green, the shins, joni mitchell, john coltrane, the white stripes, ben folds, elliott smith, the magnetic fields, fiona apple, modest mouse, jon brion, franz ferdinand, bloc party, iron and wine, the postal service, the futureheads, the decemberists, arcade fire, belle and sebastian, shout out louds, the new pornographers, devendra banhart, of montreal, ted leo and the pharmacists

lately: the blow, sia, regina specktor, the new interpol (well, new to me. god knows when it came out), spoon, flight of the conchords, sam cooke

and lots of pop music because romania has warped my musical tastes. yeah, that's right. i love rihanna now.

Movies:

a bout de souffle (godard), buffalo '66, my life without me, the sweet hereafter, the opposite of sex, secretary, waking life, garden state, wet hot american summer, next stop wonderland, wit, high fidelity, closer, say anything, heathers, bowling for columbine, donnie darko, the virgin suicides, you can count on me, before sunrise, before sunset, reality bites, the kill bill movies, sideways, city of god, maria full of grace, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (everytime i watch this movie i'm reminded of how amazing it is...), hotel rwanda, you and me and everyone we know.

Television:

dexter, grey's anatomy, 30 rock, desperate housewives, lost, entouragei treat my internet connection like a television. right now i'm watching a lot of studio 60 on the sunset trip

Books:

i miss the library.

any and all bukowski, especially love is a dog from hell, ee cummings, tennessee williams, the history of love ,the lottery and other stories (shirley jackson), the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime, the unbearable lightness of being, house of leaves, the hottest state (ethan hawke. yes - that ethan hawke. check it out.), camus, vonnegut, flannery o'connor, graham greene. i'm really into historically-based non-fiction. me against my brother = amazing book about the wars in somalia, rwanda and sudan.

i'm also into children's books -- alexander and the terrible horrible no good very bad day and cloudy with a chance of meatballs = excellent.right now i'm trying to finish the bill clinton book.

Heroes:

Paul Rusesabagina. Nelson Mandela. Richard Linklater.

and basically anyone else who turns their sense of helplessness into something productive.

i hated you when it would have taken less courage to love

So, it's over.  I ended something for the first time in my entire life in a preventive manner.  I saw looming hurt, drama and anxiety, and I was preventive.  I'm a little bit proud of m...

los angeles, i'm yours

I don't care what anyone says, I like Los Angeles. That may have something to do with the fact that it was 70 and sunny, and I developed a newfound love for wearing shirts without sleeves and bare fe...
