The American Radio (has officially broken up)

The American Radio has broken up. Goodbye.

About Me

The American Radio was formed in the early fall of 2001 as a school project at Visible School in Lakeland, TN. They realized they had a good thing going and decided to continue the band after the school year ended. With a broad spectrum of musical influences, The American Radio continued writing songs and headed into the studio in the summer of 2002 to record "The Real EP". They played locally at a number of venues and worked hard developing an energetic live show.
The American Radio went on hiatus for a year while band members pursued additional post-secondary education and career choices. When asked about the time apart, lead singer/guitarist Rich Riegel said, "I would say that we matured more. (During) the time apart we were each listening to different music, I mean really listening, and that enabled us to come back together and bring fresh perspective to our individual instruments and the band as a whole."
When the band re-emerged, there was a lineup change, and once again The American Radio continued working on writing great songs, and developing their live show. The band members began going over their old material. "Little nuances here and there: Maybe we should improve this guitar line or maybe we should change this melody line," Riegel said. "We were just always pushing ourselves to go deeper and deeper into the songs."
Their newest EP titled "Listen", released to iTunes in December 2006, and was recorded at world famous Ardent Studios (Gin Blossoms, Sister Hazel, 3 Doors Down), and also at Studio B inside Visible School. One of the most hook-laden songs on the EP is "Satellite" which recently received some radio airplay on 93X in Memphis.
They are currently beginning work on new songs and hopefully a return to the studio to record their first full-length album.
As for the energetic live show, let's just say the hard work doesn't go unnoticed.
