Anyone who isn't looking for a fight. Mama Nature is creating this site to inform, not to argue. If you have information to offer feel free to drop Mama a line or post a link in the comments section. Mama will look at information on either side of the issues! But that doesn't mean you're going to change Mama's mind!
Mama understands some of the pro-animal testing sentiment many of you out there may share, but to that I say think about this: If science was told that as of tomorrow it could never touch another animal (especially in the name of human gain) again, do you really think it would cease to exist? Mama's opinion is no EFFING way. Science would find a way to continue without the 1.34 million animals it killed every year between 1993 and 2002 (excluding mice, rats, birds, and other cold-blooded animals), which is actually down from the 1.77 million animal lives taken per year for the 20 years preceding (Evans, p. 104). Mama thinks to say science would come to a halt is being JUST a LITTLE dramatic. Now, Mama loves a good drama (Mama loves movies!) but she has her limits!
Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney warms Mama's heart! Read on...
Paul McCartney, who has been very generous to the cancer research community since his first wife, Linda, died of the disease, recently announced that he will no longer support cancer charities that test on animals. The ex-Beatle stated, "When Linda died I said I would support cancer charities. Animal rights groups wrote to me pointing out that many were heavily into vivisection - and it's true. A doctor we knew out in America just admitted it as a matter of fact, innocently, like 'Well, sure we do.' What he doesn't realize is that he won't get a donation out of me for that very fact. There are better alternatives but you're not allowed to challenge the status quo,†(www.peta.org)
