Oli & the Poos

About Me

Oli and the Poos were born at the top of the stairs on a Gateway computer with windows 98. They are a mish mash of heavy metal, power ballads and comedic flare, they love to make music inspired by the trends, styles and lyrics of other bands but at the same time make the music to its full potential by adding in thier own powerful and radiant talents. Using microsoft sound recorder and a pc microphone shoved inside of a 1/2 sized classical guitar, Oli Nodwell (Celtic Thunderer) created around 20 of these awful sounding but originally great and strange tunes. "whats the matter gunna sick?, Buff Muff, Pooweeoo and Someplace to go where among the favourites. Fused together with the talent of other musicians and vocalists who inevitably ended up in the band. Edward Miller (Viking Warrior) and Harry Peel (Scandanavian Conquorer) were the first two to join the band and are considered founders of the musical genious which is Oli and the Poos. The release of the first album "The Poo Sessions" (sort of.. 10 copies given away) was a kick start to the bands musical journey. Eventually Oli brought in some artificial drums to the mix and the first experimentation with them can be heard on this very website "Smack" is considered by the band to be one of the best song ideas created in this small group and will be re-recorded for the new album. One glorious day the band were introduced to the technical marvel that is Lorin Perry at Sketti Studios, where they were able to join forces to fathom "Cockensluash" out of a range of old ideas for riffs etc in a short recording session at the studio. Sketti Studios then saw potential in what it could become and upgraded thier equipment. It became the ultimate recording experience for Oli and the Poos and other talented bands and individuals. Back in late 2005 Oli and the Poos began a new leg of thier journey by introducing new members of the band Johnny Hallet (Standard Bearer) and Stuart Fernley (Axe Lord) and they recorded "Where is my Wife?", which was a huge hit on the local scene. With people stopping in the street to compliment thier music, Oli and the Poos were inspired and encouraged to write more songs and they have just recruited new member Simon Bloor (Baron Hellstorm) and the now 6 piece band are currently in the process of recording an album to be released at a gig tba in summer 2007. Let the Journey continue...... MyGen Profile Generator
