He was the last to be born out of 8 boys. At age 7 he then realized that he had the gift to sing. He started in the choir of the church that he was born, singing praises to the Man from which his gift had come from. At age 10 he joined up with 2 cats in his elementary school and formed the group Unique Styles. From this point on he would be known as Styles of Unique Styles. Everyday at lunch and after school they would get together and practice Boyz II Men songs which was and still is his favorite R&B group. As a group they entered little talent shows and performed at all programs conducted at the school. Sadly after he culminated from the 6th grade he moved away and Unique Styles was no more. That didn't stop him from possessing the love of music because he continued singing in the choir and doing small talent shows throughout his community. Winning some and losing some he never lost the drive, determination, and love that he had always had for music. Now he goes by the name David Soul. Most of his inspiration comes from prominent people like gospel artist such as John P. Kee, Daryl Coley, the late Rev. James Cleveland, Fred Hammond and R&B/Soul artist such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, Musiq Soulchild, Dave Hollister, and Carl Thomas. These are just a few of the people that have touched his life musically. Now its his turn and there is nothing standing in the way. He gives great credit to the one person that has kept him grounded since conception and the is his pride and joy, his heart and soul, his beautiful son Derrick Curtis Bivens Jr. He proclaims that if it wasn't for him he probably wouldn't be alive today. So he hopes the world is ready for David Soul with his debut album entitled "The Threat". Coming soon to a stage near you.
