About Me

Ok, so at long last I decided to take another look at my introduction and decided to redo it. Not that it's gonna be any better this time around.
Allow myself to introduce...... myself. My name is Michael, or as others sometimes call me, Mikey, Michael D, Michael P, MD, Michael Patrick (only my aunts and uncles call me that), or the dreaded "Mike". Don't ever call me that. If you do, I'll punch you right in the ovaries. That's no lie. I've also been called Matt and Mark. If you do that, I'll punch you right in the face, and that, also, is no lie.
Long long ago I was born in Oceanside 9 days before the death anniversary of my namesake, St. Patrick. And then I turned 27. So that sums up my life in a nutshell.
I have a huge family, following the Irish tradition, and I love each and every one of them. I have 2 younger brothers, 11 aunts and uncles, 25 cousins, and 20-30 2nd cousins now. And that's just my immediate family. If I start counting my dad's aunts, uncles and cousins, that number is going to more than double. Even though most of them have lived here forever, I am still meeting family. Anyway, family is VERY important to me. They are the constants, the ones that are always there for you, and they can never STOP being your family, the ones you can trust and rely on. Besides, you mess with me and you're going to have a big mob of angry drunken Irishmen chasing you down! Ok we're not drunks; I'm just sticking with the stereotype here.
So yeah. I'm a musician (although it's not my profession) and have been for pretty much forever, starting out on the famous recorder and flutophone in elementary school, picking up the alto sax in middle school through some college, and about 8 years ago the guitar, and I also sing all the time. And if I'm not singing, I'm driving people crazy with my whistling! Music's in my blood, there's no doubt about that. I can't get enough of the stuff and can talk for hours about it.
I work at Genentech, Inc. in Oceanside and love it. I started there September 2005, so I still feel new there. My job is to support the manufacture of Avastin, a drug that fights colorectal cancer among many others. I basically am in the business of saving people's lives. How awesome is that? They spoil us rotten, throwing parties once a month where they force us to drink free beer and eat free food at work. I know, it's a rough job, but someone has to do it! I've already flown out to NC for business once! I almost got to go to Germany too. Maybe next time!
So, basically I am normally a happy and positive person. I try not to let things get me down, and focus on the good things in my life whenever it starts getting that way. I love hanging out with my friends, going to coffee, to the desert, concerts, movies, the beach, paintballing, Irish pubs, Dave & Busters, pretty much whatever. Not night clubs though. I Fing hate those places. Maybe I don't drink enough to be able to have fun there. But I'm not knocking it! No no, I'm sure lots of long, lasting and meaningful relationships have come from letting some drunken stranger grind on you. Those places are right up there with country music for me. What a nightmare that would be, combining the two? Oh wait, I think that's called the Stampede in Temecula. I prefer going to a place where everyone is just hanging out, talking, maybe with a band playing, a couple pints of Guinness, maybe an Irish Car Bomb, you know the drill. Oh yeah, and a fine cigar outside.
So, there's me! I'm a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, watch out!
Hey, check out my band! We have music up on My Space Music , AudioStreet.net and it's doing really well!
