Mothers should still be sexy.
I’m a 33 year old mother of two and wife of 8 years. I’d say it’s going fairly well.
I’m a stay-at-home mom (who invented that word anyway? Like if I didn’t stay at home, I’m not a mom?).
I hate the term “homemaker†and “soccer mom†and do not enjoy the thought of carting my kids all over tarnation for umpteen activities. I just know there are others out there like me who are afraid to admit it. It’s ok, come into the light and join me. Life is crazy and parenthood is not all kisses and hugs. I celebrate the uncertainty and unexpected and I’m learning to find the joy in it. And yes, “tarnation†and “umpteen†are real words. I’ll bet a mom invented them.
I love to dance and sing in my living room. I secretly write song lyrics that no one hears. One day I'll get around to sharing them. Some days I wish I were a rock star, or on Dancing with the Stars (and yes, my daughter learned the Shakira moves from me).
I am a Christian and try and live to follow Christ, but I don’t understand the attitudes of many Christians. This is hard for me to admit and sometimes quite discouraging.
Since having children I’ve developed the traditional love-hate relationship with my body. I’d say, at the moment we’re on tentative speaking terms again.
I’ve recently abandoned many former political beliefs and become a Libertarian. My husband accuses me of becoming a Liberal. I think where he’s from that’s supposed to be an insult.
So who am I? I’m still learning. For now I’m Just Dia.
Life should have a soundtrack...music reverberating around us as we breathe and contemplate our steps.
