An actor without techies is a naked person standing in the dark trying to emote. A techie without actors is a person with marketable skills.
I’ve come to find that I’m an incredible mixture of things, really. I am Celtic in heart and soul (and even in blood to an extent), and follow the ways of the druidic Bards as much as possible, including my own arts of music composition and storytelling. As such, I hold a very strong affinity for nature (especially the woods in my case), as well as a draw towards Ireland and Scotland. I also find myself feeling incredibly ‘at home’ in most RenFaires, which I attend as much as I’m able to. I used to be a regular season pass holder for one of the largest Renaissance Festivals in the nation over in Minnesota (might be the largest, compared to the other in Texas, as the MN one even has permanent buildings and you need a map to find your way around correctly!) One of the interesting things about me (I think, at least) is that not only have I known there’s far more in this world than what we can see, I’ve also had experiences being able to heal people, make them feel better and take care of minor ailments, through concentration and my hands. I found out I was really doing Reiki, and later on in life, I was able to focus my studies and be trained in Shamballa – something that Reiki is actually a part of. I’m now a certified Shamballa Master, too.
I am also an incredible geek, and a proud one at that – both comic geek and gamer geek, as I love role-playing, writing and reading. ‘Gaming’ even in two senses, though rather than primarily console, I’m heavy on the D&D RPing, good ol’ pen and paper style where you actually have a blast with a bunch of friends getting together! So much fun. I also absolutely love text RPing online because of my love for creative writing, too, and have been on various RPGs, such as one based on Anne McCaffery’s Pern called Harper’s Tale and a few Marvel RPGs focusing on the X-men characters. I’ve also been running my own text X-men campaign for a long time, over four years now at least. I’ve been a major X-men fan since childhood, with Remy, of course, as my main focus and favorite X-man! I’m even incredibly similar to him IRL, so it’s even better that ma belle chere, who’s actually my wife, is a RL Rogue! (That, and now also a prominent and beautifully talented costumer, with the ‘Belle Chere’ sticking quite well as her second name.)
This also means I am the luckiest man alive, being married to such an awesome and stunningly beautiful woman who is also a gamer geek and X-men comic geek! She’s ma tres belle chere, and on MySpace (and various other places now) known as ‘BelleChere’ (fitting, non?) We’re now annual DragonCon cosplayers too, with all of our outfits created by BelleChere herself, who is an absolutely amazing seamstress. I’ve done nearly all of her photoshoots thus far, great fun with lighting and setting, lots of fun. It’s perfect too, because both of us are also theatre geeks, with careers in theatre (and degrees even too!) I’ve got both a B.F.A. in Theatre Design – lighting design focus – and a B.A. in Music Composition. I got really lucky when I came out here to the east coast, too, because not only do I work in the beautiful and fun theatres right on the seacoast (especially the best theatre of all and funnest for me - The Music Hall!), I’ve also got a little part time job for between shows at a Sci-Fi/fantasy comic book store called Jumpgate! Comics, theatre, music, nature, and a beautiful wife – all combining for the perfect mixture in my life.
~It’s amazing how great things have been working out for ma BelleChere, as she’s been recognized and praised by multiple places, interviewed, and now even lucky enough to be appreciated by Avatar at NYCC in her Anna Mercury outfit! So if you see an Anna Mercury at an Avatar booth, notably Wizard World Chicago and San Diego ComicCon at the very least, say hello and I’ll likely be around too! So that’s one way to find me. Ellis is one of our favorite authors, so that worked out perfectly.
So originally I had an addiction fostered by being persuaded into joining World of Warcraft. It was at first very amazing and quite addicting, but as most gateway things go, I started to look for /more/ that I could do with it. I am SUCH a creative writer (writing every single day at least ten-twelve pages of the RP campaign I run), so I was naturally looking for more immersion in that, as well. However, WoW has far too many...extremely immature people plaguing its population.
Then I fell in love with Lord of the Rings Online! It’s beauty and immersion is unparalleled, and the community and RP is filled with fun, intelligent and creative people! Especially Landroval, the unofficial RP server! If you’re ever on there, send me a Tell on Landroval as: Talliesin (Loremaster), Talindar (Minstrel), Ballew (Guardian), or Tassleham (Burgler)!
The Cheyenne Line - this was an amazing piece of work by someone in '/slashdance', winning video for a World of Warcraft music video, by the Ataris. While people familiar with World of Warcraft will probably understand this and be touched by it a bit deeper, I'm certain everyone will understand the depth of its meaning. Understand, and hopefully take to HEART, too. People and relationships are the most important things in your life, and those are the things to hold on to.
