Baby Lemonade

About Me

The neo-psychedelic quartet Baby Lemonade, formed in Los Angeles, debuted in 1994 with the six-song “Wonderful” EP, released on the Sympathy for the Record Industry label.
Following the record's release, the band, - comprised ultimately of singer/guitarist Rusty Squeezebox, guitarist Mike Randle, bassist Dave Chapple and drummer David “Daddy-O” Green - accepted an invitation to tour with Arthur Lee as the Love band (after an inspiring performance at the famous Troubadour in Hollywood). But this was short-lived: in 1996 Arthur Lee was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on a reported firearms offense.
Baby Lemonade remained with Sympathy, for whom they recorded 1996's full-length “68% Pure Imagination”. “Exploring Music”, their first record for the Big Deal label, followed a year later and “High Life Suite” was released in mid-2001. All 3 records received critical acclaim from local and world-wide press.
Following his release from prison in 2001, Arthur Lee toured once again with Baby Lemonade enlisted as Love. In the 3.5 well publicized years thereafter the band went on to enjoy unprecedented success with sell-out tours of the UK, Europe, USA and Australia. Baby Lemonade (as Love) not only made original Arthur Lee fans happy, but far exceeded their expectations. In addition, the new Love with Arthur Lee amassed a brand new fan base comprised of die hard music fans and young people not even born yet when Arthur Lee originally performed in the 60's.
Accolades accompanied their re-creation of the classic Love album “Forever Changes” which was filmed by the BBC at the “Glastonbury Festival” and “Later With Jools Holland”. Baby Lemonade escorted Arthur Lee in collecting a “Lifetime Achievement” award from MOJO and a “Living Legend” award from the NME.
Sadly, Arthur Lee passed away in 2006, and will be missed and remembered, even more so by fans who had the experience first hand.
With the undying support of Love fans welcoming Baby Lemonade to continue the tradition of Love's music, comes a gracious responsibility. And no band has proved more capable and worthy of this task, (blazing hundreds of shows in their trail).
BL look forward to this integrated and explosive tour of night-long Love and Baby Lemonade music.
