In his varied musical career, latin percussionist Orlando “Q†Rodriguez has worked and /or recorded with artists in all styles of music: Jackie McLean, Walter Becker and Donald Fagan of Steely Dan, Frankie Valie and the Four Seasons, Ashford and Simpson, Gha'il Rhodes Benjamin, Max Roach, Paul Shaffer, Kathie Lee Gifford, Johnny Colon, Jay and the Americans, Ismael Miranda, Warren Benbow, Nancy Wilson, Sam Wooding, Bill Saxton, James Brown, Chocolate, Ted Daniel, Ben E. King, Rickie Byars Beckwith, Barry Rodgers, Ralfe Pagan, Jay and the Americans, Lonnie Smith, Gloria Lynne and Aaron Neville. Besides spending time in Puerto Rico, while in New York, Mr. Rodriguez's Congas, Bongos and assorted percussion instruments have been heard on commercial jingles and film soundtracks; including Mr. Rodriguez working as a recording consultant for Daiichi Kosho and Rock Videos International, which is a multimedia corporation, with offices in the United States, and in Tokyo, Japan. In 2005, percussionist Mr. Rodriguez will be on the new 'smokin' Wynton Marsalis CD on the legendary Blue Note record label. This live recording date features Wynton's quartet along with some special guests. Recorded last year at the House Of Tribes in New York City, the performance features alto man Wes Anderson, drummer Joe Farnsworth, bassist Carlos Henriquez, pianist Eric Lewis and percussionist Orlando Rodriguez, among others. Besides performing, the most exciting in Mr. Rodriguez's life and career is now beginning work on his first solo project with some of New York's finest and most talented Latin and Jazz musicians.
