Lara

About Me

From the time she was 15, Lara D has been featured on countless demos, soundtracks, worked with various record producers and has become a well-known talent among producers and musicians within the industry. While Lara is known for her “perfect pitch” and harmony abilities, she is also a highly respected and frequently used songwriter and guitar player. Since freeing herself from a production deal last year, Lara has been performing acoustic sets at various venues throughout the Los Angeles area. She has also continued her demo work and is in the process of recording new music of her own. In December 2007, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Loyola Marymount University in Marina Del Rey. In addition, Lara was featured as an on-air correspondent for Fuel TV's "The Daily Habit" and has since become lead correspondent for Grindtv.com. (See below)Aside from Lara’s musical talents, she has other strange talents as well. She’s an amazing imitator and if she knows you, she probably imitates your voice perfectly. She can imitate any sound within seconds of hearing it. It’s odd. Then, there’s the fact that Lara is incredibly (almost unbelievably) good at pool. No one knows why- but the girl can play pool. She’s also a goofy footer that skates to class, surfs when the water’s warm and snowboards every chance she gets. She’s a nut. As anyone who knows her will tell you, she is known as “one of the boys” but if you get her drunk at all, she will start talking in the cutest baby talk you have ever heard. Lara has a weird yet adorable obsession with Harry Potter movies, The Sopranos and Yum Yum doughnuts. She has a cat named Mow Mow that is ridiculously obese and she adores the thing. She can speak in every accent imaginable and if you’re lucky, she will leave you a hilarious message on your voicemail in one of her many accents. Lara can have you rolling on the floor from laughter and she can just as easily play you a song that could make a grown man cry. She is the kind of girl you miss when she’s only been gone for five minutes. She’s an amazing friend and an amazing person. If you know her, you already love her and if you don’t…you soon will. Lara's a work in progress, a precocious 20-something with an internal struggle of dreamer vs. realist. Lara is 100% singer/songwriter with a 9-5 distraction, and it seems her life is a continuous mix tape of classic rock, jazz, soul, gospel, punk, reggae, R&B, and underground hip hop. She lives for music. She relates to people through music. And she is "rock-your-socks-off" good at the acoustic. Lara’s a smart ass, a pain in the ass, and will make you laugh your ass off. Her brain goes a million miles a minute, but her soul breathes every experience. Lara’s always saying that “Our flaws are what makes us who we are, I like my bruises. I like my scars...”, and she embraces this whole-heartedly. It’s expressed in her music, just listen. -HM
