Michael " Mezzo" Fisher began his career as a classically trained musician, playing such instruments as the piano, saxophone, and guitar . Mezzo may seem like a peculiar name , but for those who know the 20 year old music producer, the name is fitting. Mezzo explains, "I just remember reading sheet music when I was younger and seeing mezzo forte. The phrase which means 'moderately loud' in latin describes my laid back personality. Plus it matches my initials, so it just fits." At age 15, Mezzo was exposed to the world of music production by his older cousin and former member of the multi-platinum rap group, "the St. Lunatics". The rapper who goes by the alias "Fresh Voice", made some of his own beats using a MPC and a keyboard. He allowed Mezzo to experiment with his equipment, but little did he know, he had sparked a fire inside of this young musician that would soon grow into the flame that currently burns inside of Mezzo. Mezzo remembers what it was like to stay up literally all night making beats. As he recalls, " It was like love at first site. Instead of playing music from old composers, I was creating my own music; and it was the type of music that I actually listened to." At this point in his life, Mezzo decided he wanted to become a music producer, despite pressure from his family to take over the family business of dentistry. After getting his first piece of equipment, a korg triton extreme, Mezzo was on his way to success. He consistently made beats throughout high school and worked with artists on the local scene, gaining experience and developing his sound. During this time, the Atlanta music scene was thriving and was an ideal environment for an ambitious producer, so Mezzo decided to take advantage of his family connections and move to the south. It was here that he took his grind to the next level. Today, Mezzo has worked with artists such as Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, T-Husle, and Gucci Mane just to name a few. As he continues to expand his discography, he leaves a quote from Michael Jordan, "I was aware of my success, but I never stopped trying to get better." With this type of attitude, one can only imagine what the future has in store for this talented producer.
