Matt Parsons graduated from University of Gloucestershire in 2006 with a BA(Hons) degree in Fine Art. Born with Erbs Palsy in his left arm, Matt was told many thing would be impossible to do, including playing musical instruments. Originally he started playing drums when he was very young and it proved to be good exercise for his arm. As this condition makes it very difficult to turn his arm over, playing chords on a guitar was thought to be impossible. However, after turning the guitar round and playing left handed this problem was solved. While he was finishing his studies he recorded and released his demo album Coloured Gifts. He released the album through his own independant record label, Leftarm Records, and since the release of Coloured Gifts he has released the singles Better Off Alone and Funky Feelings from the album. Videos for both singles were shot in Spain by Director Miguel Eek.
For the last two years Matt has been writing and recording his follow up album called Inner Strength.
“I have really focused on this album. When we recorded Coloured Gifts I was doing it for a hobby and didn’t really see making music my life, whereas I have been gigging extensively for the last two years, playing songs from the new album and I’ve had a great response. This time around I have really thought about the sound that I want and made sure that the songs are right for my voice. The musicians who have worked with me on this album are incredible and we have strived to produce a completely realistic sound including a real string section and this new energy is really apparent through the whole album.â€
Matt continues to write and record music and has some ideas of releasing some of his other work through his label in the future.
The Album Inner Strength is due for release in late 2008.
Matt has written a book called One Man's Thoughts which is available to buy online. (www.amazon.co.uk)
