the group bud collins released "the preppy fakebook" in 1998 & opened up for Superchunk, Jump Little Children, and Southern Culture on the Skids to packed houses at The Music Farm... disbanded... reformed as Some Kind of Dwellers in Some Kind of Colony in 2001, released LP "The Julliard Audition" in 2002. PUNK PLANET magazine singled out "albert" as a "head bopper", comparing the band (favorably, we took it) to the velvet underground. summer 2004 release of "The Coloring Curriculum" EP was celebrated by a concert at Magar Hatworks on King Street in Charleston. by that time the nomenclature had shifted to the more manageable The Colonists. Today the group is known as The Green and Bold, or The Green and Bold Cooperative. The Cooperative is an umbrella under which a variety of East Coast Artists and Musicians, such as Steven Thompson, Matt Gribbon, Kevin Hanley, and Jim Herbert, huddle.The Green and Bold, as evidenced by the new song/demo on the page, is recording a new album called GREENLAND. The project is a complementary aspect of Steven Thompson's new work, which is, to say it as gently as possible, something of a sculptural meditation upon the memoir AN AFRICAN IN GREENLAND by Tete' Michele Kpomassie. The Green and Bold is thrilled to report that Monsieur Kpomassie has offered his assistance and friendship, for which we are lucky and thankful.GREENLAND is a true concept album, unapologetically. Each song concerns, on some level, our fascination with the icy, remote landscapes that compel Tete' Michele, compel us in the green and bold, and likely compel you as well, perhaps subconciously. The Poles, after all, are Powerful. Between the songs are sea lanes, if you will, instrumental interludes that are our interpretation of ancient Inuit chants and songs.GREENLAND will mark the first full length recording since the group's debut, The Julliard Audition, released in 2002. Release will coincide with the onset of the Arctic Autumn, 2007.Also in the works and scheduled for release prior to the 2008 elections is another full length, THE GREEN AND BOLD PRESENTS THE COX DEBATE SOCIETY.
