I am from Grant County Washington. The first day of the GOP Republican State convention the credentials department reported that 123 alternates were to report to credentials to be seated as delegates on the floor. While that was happening the chair resumed with voting and discussions with out the new delegates seated. It was called to the chairman Luke Essers attention that they should be present since they account for %10 of the voting. It was "not well received" by the chair and our other attempts to vote on letting them be present was shot down even though we held majority. In my county alone there were 2 new delegates seated with out knowledge of the current or prior votes.
Also previous to the convention, Luke Esser sent out a letter to the delegates "Concerning the orderly conduct of business at the convention" were only two rules were outlined.
1) "Roberts rules protects against the misuse of motions to simply obstruct or delay, which are dilatory".
2) In a very rare circumstance an
attempt may be made by a: delegate(s) to put a motion to a vote on the floor. It is important to understand that under page 642 of Roberts rules, the right of a member to put a motion to a vote standing in his place depends on the chair's 1) ignoring both a "motion apparently made and seconded in good faith" and 2) ignoring a "point of order covering the case" and failing to rule on either the motion or the point of order. The chair is prepared to rule on any non-dilatory point of order, and to entertain any non-dilatory appeal from such a ruling, SO THERE WILL BE NO LEGITIMATE JUSTIFICATION FOR A MEMBER PUTTING ANY MOTION TO A VOTE STANDING IN HIS PLACE."
The Paul camp tried to move for a vote and then a roll call on numerous issues they we "not received well by the chair" or they blatantly miscounted the 2/3 majority. Cheating is cheating is cheating. They outlined they way they were going to cheat us out of a fair process before it even occurred.
In the proposed rules it was outlined that there were to be no "unit rule at this convention" although Paul's delegates called roll call repeatedly to review a case that was brought before us concerning the validity of Skaggit County delegates being there illegally. Second, it was outlined "there shall be no endorsement of candidates by this convention". But yet they were repeatedly broken or compromised by the guest speakers with no protest from the chairman Mr. Esser.
(Although some of the guests speakers were in fact speaking for the good of Ron Paul its still against the rules).
I was a delegate and while in my 4th congressional district meeting, which was ran by people in McCain hats, they told us that McCain won the popular vote in the primaries and he would be assigned delegates, but that we had to still vote on them. Wait a min? Did that make any sense. Well there was one name on the ballot to choose from. On the few that had 2 names, the second person would ask to take off their name the ballot. So we didn't have a choice we were fored into voting for McCains delegates and had only one option. Hmmm, let me think, how about none of the above?
All in all. We knew it would happen. Its just sad to witness your neighbors resort to cheating and railroading to further and agenda of taxation and war mongering!!
The good news???
THERE WERE 1,000 delegates and alternates VOTING RON PAUL and that was counted the day before we had to report to credentials!
Dont rubber stamp the GOP nomination McCain!!!
ITS NOT OVER TILL NOVEMBER!!
