“Diary of a Soldierâ€Ever since I made the decision to enlist in the Army, there has been one question on everyone’s mind. Why did I join the Army, especially in a time of war? Well, some people call me crazy and others call me stupid, but you see not everyone in this world has the same freedoms and privileges that we all take for granted everyday. There are people facing adversities such as: poverty, starvation, disease, and even oppression from a higher power, which can ultimately lead to their death. If you haven’t figured it out already from the recent events worldwide, those same oppressors that have persecuted the innocent around the globe are now targeting us. The enemy, war, and reality of terrorism is no longer thousands of miles away, but right in our backyard here in the U.S. These situations are going to continue until someone stands up and does something about it. So, why did I join the Army? Was it for the money, the college, the benefits, or the respect and prestige? I have to admit that those are all great advantages and opportunities that you won’t find anywhere else, but none of these are the reason I joined. I didn’t join the Army for myself or my personal well being. I joined for my family, loved ones, and all those innocent who deserve the same opportunity to be free of fear and terror. It’s a thing called selfless service. There’s not enough money in this world to buy my freedom, happiness, or my life. It’s all about you. Each and every one of you make my life worth living each day. The laughter and smiles on children’s faces fill me with joy. Families walking in the park, children playing, and everyone enjoying their freedom lifts my spirits. My family, friends, and loved ones free and out of harm’s way. Not having to fear death, persecution, or suffering. That is why I do what I do everyday. That is why I wake up early every morning full of motivation and dedication, ready to do my job, fulfill my duties, and sacrifice my own freedom and even my life. Because my pain, tears, and my life are all worth losing, if that means my loved ones remain safe and free. If that makes me stupid or crazy, then I’ll be the stupidest, craziest man on this earth for as long as it takes. It’s true that there is a war going on and new wars may be on the rise. Am I scared? Of coarse I am, I’m scared everyday, but my faith remains in God, and my loyalty and duty must prevail. If I don’t stand up and fight for what I believe in, then who will? With that said, Crystal, baby I love you. You are the love of my life. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for all your love and support. You are the queen of my heart and the fruit of my soul. I love you and support you with all of my heart and strength. You are the primary source of all my motivation and strength, and my heart, love, and services belong to you forever. You know I will never stop loving you, fighting for you, and I’m even willing to die for you. So when times get tough just remember that I’m here by your side and I will never leave you. To my family and friends, I love each and every one of you just as much, and thank you for your continued support above all else. To my grandmother, may your soul rest in peace in God’s kingdom. You will always be my idol and mentor. To God, I pray that your will be done, and that you would grant me and my loved ones your mercy and grace. Please guide, guard, and protect us in our walk of faith. Amen. To the citizens of the U.S. and innocent around the world, I send you my personal thanks for all your support. I appreciate the war effort back on the home front. All your love and support will never go unnoticed. You are the strength behind every soldier. To all my fellow soldiers, my respect, love, and prayers go out to you. I pray that all of our beliefs, hard work, sacrifices, lives, and deaths not be held in vain, but seen in God’s eyes as righteous and just. Don’t ever forget why we are fighting. They may take our lives but they will never take our freedom.
