About Me

Born in Omaha, skated thru Westside High w/o taking any hard classes. Went to College twice. I mean I entered the building twice, which might explain my my stellar GPA of .000.I talked my dad into buying The 18th Amendment Saloon, a bar I played softball for, in 1982. I quit my day job a year later and became his partner. We opened a few other bars together, and I opened a few more after he retired.The craziest thing I ever did was opening Fremont St. Reggae and Blues, a two-room, two stage, 10,000 square foot music venue located in downtown Las Vegas, just east of Golden Nugget and Horseshoe Casino on 4th & Fremont. I lost money there from 1993-1996, before I sold my lease to some drug store chain that never opened.I currently own and operate three bars in Omaha: Murphy's Lounge (www.MurphysOmaha.com), The Lift Lounge (www.The LiftOmaha.com), and Bar Fly (which was SHAG, a Vodka Bar until August of 2007) www.OmahaBarFly.comI measure success in life by how many smiles you put on others' faces and how often life makes you smile. I have had more than my share of smiles and laughs and if I die tomorrow, I will not have been cheated.
