I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

If an exact copy existed of me, and if I was asked to describe him, I'd say, "Steven's an interesting guy. He's funny, he's really smart... nicest guy I know. Kinda weird sometimes, but whatever." Then I'd shrug, and walk away before you could find out what I meant by that.
Recently I have been working a series of quasi-technical jobs, the latest of which is tech support for the Internet features on the phones and PDAs of Cingular's/AT&T's customers. Next year, I expect to go to college, and stay in college until I become a professional philosopher. Or not.
I enjoy writing, though I rarely have the attention or inspiration needed to construct good fiction or poetry. Currently, my favorite creative outlet is in playing the Celtic harp. I don't have nearly enough intellectual outlets, so if you probe me for ideas, you may unwittingly provoke a mental eruption of reflections and observations and speculations and fantastic imaginings. I encourage you to do this as often as possible.
I am taller than I look.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who has no expectations of me beyond what they see in the profile. As long as you're not already mapping me into some role to play in your life, the odds are good that I'd like to meet you at least once.
I particularly want to meet people who do any of the following: Think, creatively and with intellectual honesty, as a matter of habit. Empathize with friends, enemies, and strangers alike, taking comfort in their joys and commiserating in their sorrows, again as a matter of course. Keep to a code of ethics that demands speaking truthfully, keeping one's promises, and knowing one's own mind well enough to know whether honesty is possible. Respect those who help them with gratitude and admiration, and those who hinder them with patience and mercy. Make me laugh uncontrollably.
I'd also like to meet anyone who can teach me to sing or play the harp better than I do at present, who enjoys getting shitfaced and playing console video games, and attractive thirty-something women.

The Harps Tale

I was going to write something about the music I am composing as I practice the harp, but then it occurred to me that I've never really told the story of how I came to own one.  I am in a storyte...

The post immediately after the totally awesome one you will never read

A few days ago, I wrote a post.  It was about a conversation I had with my roommate, about codes of honor and whether women have honor and what conditions are necessary for codes of hon...

The Uncertain Religion

I'm an agnostic.  But I'm pretty serious about it.  By being agnostic, I'm not taking a pass on the whole question of religion; I am entirely sure that there are aspects of divinity that can...

A pox upon most of their house!

I have spent the last week driving the Phantom PT Cruiser.  On Friday, on the advice of the Allstate agent responsible for evaluating my car and the damages to it, I returned it and collected my ...

Old & Busted meets New Hotness

Today, over my lunch break, I left my accident victim car at a body shop, and drove off in a rental PT Cruiser.  Driving a rental car is fun, and the PT Cruiser has an anachronistic style th...

The thirty-something white guy blues

I hung out with Stacy on Thursday night.  I generally don't decide whether to regard hanging out with a woman as a "date" until after it's happened, and in this case I still haven't decided. ...

The law finally catches up with me

It is said that 90% of American drivers regard themselves as among the 30% best drivers in the country; but if that is so, I am of the other 10%.  I am inattentive, prone to ignoring vital traffi...

AT&T: bringing 21st century technology and 17th century rock stars together

People often ask me, "How's the new job?"  To which I generally reply, "I don't know.  I'm still in training." The new job... well, it's tech support.  It's better than the old job in t...

Hard Reset

Most of our energies are mustered and spent without our knowledge.  Our hearts beat without our consent, the commute to work is routine enough to be unmemorable, and our habits of personality do ...

Ex

My girlfriend came to the decision that we could no longer be a couple.  She's moving out of my apartment tomorrow and returning to Houston. I am too angry to explain the details in such a way th...
