If 40 is the new 30, does that mean I'm only 26???

About Me

Some call me a Soccer Mom, drivin' a minivan and all that, but I love my life and all that comes with it! I'm sometimes shy and prefer a one-on-one "deep thoughts" conversation to making small talk with folks I don't know too well. I'm still learning how to be a housekeeper, but I'm proud to say I am a good cook and getting better with each passing year! As for my passion, all forms of physical fitness squeeze out any other hobby or activity I might be interested in. Just give me a pair of dancing shoes (jazz, swing, hip-hop or salsa, please), trail running shoes, a mountain bike, cross country skis, or hiking boots, and I'm a happy gal. I do love a little music to go with the dancing, and lately I spend the late night hours searching for more workout-worthy tunes or things that I can use when I teach after-school dance at my son's school. I hate getting angry, being angry, and having anyone be angry at me...but if you get me in that space WATCH OUT...I can be fierce! However, I am also fiercly loyal, as any of my friends would tell you, and I would give you the shirt off my back if you needed it. I love to find the "perfect gift" for someone, so don't be surprised to have something arrive on your doorstep just for no reason...other than I saw something that looked like YOU and had to get it. But don't worry, I never exepect anything in return...friendship is its own reward.

My Interests

Cooking, eating, dancing, biking, hiking, trail running, strength training, books & magazines (a book before bedtime, but magazines in the bathtub), taking baths, hot tubs & hot springs, actually anything having to do with hot water! Planning & taking vacations of all kinds - whole family, kid-less, or girlfriend getaways. Would love to take up knitting or spend more time with the scrapbook.

I'd like to meet:

Other than Peter Gabriel, I'm pretty happy knowing who I know, right now.

Music:

Kelis, Peter Gabriel, Theivery Corporation, Bebel Gilberto, Suba, M.I.A., Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, Los Amigos Invisibles, Afro Celt Sound System

Movies:

Garden State, Sex y Lucia (Spanish), Y Tu Mama Tambien (Mexican), Mostly Martha (German) - can you tell I like foreign movies??? Murderball, Song Poems, Spellbound, Mad Hot Ballroom - can you tell I like documentaries??? And I still can't forget Lord of the Rings. Wow. My only complaint with movies is that I never get to see them in the theater (remember to add $6 per hour for babysitting) and then I fall asleep while trying to watch them on DVD!!

Television:

PBS documentaries, travel shows, cooking shows, and Desperate Housewives when I can stay awake to watch it

Books:

Not too intellectual here...I save the deep thinking for the movies. I absolutely loved the Anne Rice "Lasher" series of books - surprising since I didn't get into the Vampire books. Also love Maeve Binchy for her smart Irish romance novels. I like to take Nora Roberts on vacation with me, although I'm a little tired of reading the same sex scene OVER and OVER again.

Heroes:

My mother & grandmother (both passed away), my father, and some very inspirational girlfriends (yeah you know who you are!)

My Blog

poised, on the brink of major change

It's not common knowledge yet that John and I are about to spring for a humongous house up in the South hills of Eugene.  But we are indeed!  It's not fancy, in fact, it's the plainest house...
