If you have enough time, you really should read through all my interests and my bands and books and movies and such.
It's worth it, I think. It says a lot.

Essay on Love and Pain via Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Essay on Life. (the game)
I'm a simple man with simple pleasures. Complicated things happen in life, but everything fades eventually and trials get easier with repetition.
I love my friends to death, they are the coolest, funniest, most compassionate and interesting people in the world. I would be nowhere without them.
I grew up in two places after my parents split up: Selma, redneck central, and Sunstar, hippie commune for grumpy old hermits. Sunstar is just outside of Takilma and some of my favorite people and places in the world hang out there.
I'm Irish, Danish, and Norwegian, and a hopeless, hideous romantic. I love ice cream, music, and life in general. I skateboard, I snowboard, I go bowling irregularly, I write occasionally, and I have an undying love for photography. I play hacky-sack and do T'ai Chi, as well. Anything else I do is subject to revision and erasure.
I feel that the most important thing I can be is kind. There's never enough kindness in the world.
I believe that a person should not be punished for their so-called "bad" actions; I feel they should be shown a better way. I think that too many people are content to give up on those they see as wrong. I also think that a person cannot be blamed for their feelings, because I don't think a person can (or should) always control their emotions. However, I do believe in taking resposibility for your actions. You should try to minimize the negative impact of your presence on the planet. This goes for your physical environment as well as your emotional environment.
I also think people give too much credit to their own beliefs. In order to be a responsible adult, you must allow room for change. Even something like a belief or a faith must be flexible, or you don't allow for corrections and higher truth.
My life's goal is to get to know as many people as I can, and love as many of them as will allow. I don't think that life needs some great "purpose" or meaning in order to be worth living. Even a hard life is more interesting and worthwhile than death.
Speaking of death, I have a hard time imagining why we would get any other chances than the one we have right here. Reincarnation sounds interesting, but I really would object to any other form of eternal life. I think living forever would be terrible. Maybe I'm stealing this from someone else, but I think that life's brevity is what makes it so amazing.
I think that the time of peace will come when man's empathy becomes tangible; not just a passing thought, but an actual sensation. Once man can truly feel the pain of others, he will understand that we are one. Once man sees that we are one, and that this truth is only strengthened by the fact that we are all so different, then the idea of doing harm to another becomes as appalling as doing harm against oneself.
I think science and religion will eventually come to the same place; that the world is vastly more complex than we think, and that the truth is always elegantly simple, even when it takes a long time to spit out.

pity this busy monster, manunkind,
not. Progress is a comfortable disease:
your victim (death and life safely beyond)
plays with the bigness of his littleness
--- electrons deify one razorblade
into a mountainrange; lenses extend
unwish through curving wherewhen till unwish
returns on its unself.
A world of made
is not a world of born --- pity poor flesh
and trees, poor stars and stones, but never this
fine specimen of hypermagical
ultraomnipotence. We doctors know
a hopeless case if --- listen: there's a hell
of a good universe next door; let's go

Love is a smoke raised with the fume of sighs;
Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes;
Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers' tears.
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall, and a preserving sweet.
-Shakespeare, "Romeo and Juliet"

O, my Luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June.
O, my Luve's like a melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair as thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
I will love thess till, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run:
And fare thee well, my only luve!
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my luve,
Tho' it ware ten thousand mile.
