About Me

The DVD:
David V. Dougherty is an artist who continues to find his voice of self expression not only through music but also mediums of paint, sculpture, sketch, graphic design and print. He is ever growing and learning. His primary instrument is the guitar. Known also as the DVD for his initials. Has spent most of his life living along the Schuylkill river in Pennsylvania. David's musical roots are very diverse and are constantly growing. His acoustic performances are intimate, engaging, with audience interaction and participation.
To record his first album DVD worked in the home recording studio of Tim Sonnefield, formerly of the band Townhall. The album started out as a simple acoustic singer/songwriter album then began to grow. Eventually every song except one had full instrumentation. The songs on the CD reflect the diverse palette of musical tastes. This album was released in the summer of 2005.

In the Summer of 2008 DVD released a second album 'Road Closed'. This is a double album with a combined total of 31 tracks. For this album DVD wanted to strip down to roots. The first disc contains 'songs' recorded live from 2006-2008. Some songs are solo acoustic and some feature a fiddle and an upright bass player. The second disc shows DVD's interests with experimental noise and ambient music. Recorded January - March 2008. DVD assembled the complete package together from start to finish. Not only do you get original music but you also get original photography and artwork! You can pick up a copy of the CD from me personally live at a show or you can go to...

Today DVD still performs solo gigs but also has a new band. They are calling themselves 'Hooray Charles'. You should check out the noise he's making these days. The group is focusing on high energy Indie/Rock/Experimental music. DVD still plays a couple songs from the first two albums but is focusing mostly on new songs with personal and artistic growth. You can listen to live recordings from this new project. Hooray Charles is in DVD's top friend section. Hope to see you at a gig soon!

"Radio Friendly I Absolutely Got Their Music...Even The Scooby Doo SongLook For ItI Loved The Lyrics And Catchiness Of Each Individual Song. The Prepared Set Was Professional And Moved Along SmoothlyFun Songs That Had Your Head Nodding Or Foot Tapping. Good Vocals To Good Performance."

-Chris, the Nail

"What a surprising musicial pleasure! David V Dougherty was what made the night outstanding for Chaplin's on December 15. Right from the start, the audience was drawn to David's energy and ability to make a connection to everyone. He was more like a seasoned vet working the crowd and left them wanting more. His music and lyrics are full of fun and warmth - no clutter. I can't wait for his return to Chaplin's. We were lucky to have him."

-Lee Zagorski (former owner
Chaplin's: The Music Cafe)

"When listening to David V. Dougherty's music, you can immediately tell that he loves what he does...and doesn't take himself too seriously. David's music is a lot of fun, with clever lyrics and catchy melodies that will get stuck in your head after one listen. On his album "The DVD," David offers a wide variety of musical styles that show what a skillful musician he is, and keep you listening until the end--and possibly through a second listen.

Not only are you a talented musician, but your coordination skills are beyond compare. Vocals, guitar and the foot-activated tamborine simultaneously. (Not to mention harmonica and kazoo). You are practically a one-man band."
