can you tell green's my favorite color!?

About Me

Get your layout on
PimpMyArea.comIt's hard to capture my essence in just a few words! My life if full of dualities. For example, I love being around water but was born under a fire sign. I am very shy when meeting new people, then my life basically becomes an open book. I fancy myself a very independent woman, but I love Jane Austen and the idea of living out the life of one of her heroines, perhaps Elizabeth Bennett. These go on and on...

My Interests

I love being outside, it makes me feel complete. I like friendly people, they have interesting experiences/stories they are willing to share. I like buying things on sale. That could be why I have 6 sets of ingredients for tostada salad and no real desire to make it! I like hiking, camping, backpacking, and just being outside. I love being near/in water; it gives me a sense of calm I can't explain. I love hanging with my nephews; what a great way to put life in perspective!!

I'd like to meet:

kindred spirits. folks who enjoy the following: conversing, being surrounded by nature, backpacking, swimming or walking for exercise, bargain shopping, laughing, being silly, and living life to the fullest.

Music:

99.9% of what they play on 93.9 the river. This new/revived format for 93.9 has nearly knocked 89X (even though I still like time warp-Sunday mornings 8-noon), and Doug fm off of my preset radio stations. now I'm partial to 93.9 or NPR. I love the following: Ray Lamontagne, the eurythmics, the duhks, rumblefish (that's for you "Ross"!), sinead o'connor, alison krauss and union station, the cure, the beatles, butterfly boucher, tori amos, the be good tanyas, abba, death cab for cutie, guster, the the...and on and on!

Movies:

pride and prejudice (the 5 hr a&e/bbc version), amelie, garden state, abre los ojos, the princess bride, napoleon dynamite (against my better judgement), the wedding singer, sixteen candles, the rabbit-proof fence, etc.. I recently saw Running with Scissors, Little Miss Sunshine :)

Television:

don't get me started! House, Ugly Betty, etc!

Books:

basically anything by Barbara Kingsolver, especially Prodigal Summer, etc.. The Orchid Thief - good even if you're not a plant dork and the movie based on the book, Adaptation, is equally as interesting. The Secret Life of Bees - great!

Heroes:

anyone who has a passion for nature (and the urge to do something to protect/restore it) or whatever it is they've decided to do with their life (as long as it doesn't create bad karma).

My Blog

I love free things!

not so free concert tickets

Ticketmaster math: 2 - $10 tickets = $32.80  $12.80 in extra fees, are you kidding me!?  (actually the ticket cost was listed as $7, so that's an even bigger percentage that goes to the cor...

all you need is a little patience, no stress, and no worry

It's true.  The music thing fixed itself. Recently I was told that I'm headed for an early grave if I let such small details stress me out. Today I was told I'll have a heart attack if I wor...
