About Me

Scott McIntire, known as DJ Scottie Mac, came on the scene in 2002 and has built a music empire in the Midwest. He began by working with DJ 151, started his own company, DTA Productions, and now single-handedly plans, books, promotes, runs, and DJs shows at some of the largest venues in the Midwest including Abe & Jakes in Lawrence, Kan., and produces some of the hottest up-and-coming artists.
McIntire was born September 15, 1981 in Phoenix, Ariz. Forced to move to Kansas at age 11 when his father passed away, he and his two brothers were raised by a single mother. Graduating high school as Valedictorian, McIntire attended The University of Kansas to study medicine on an academic scholarship. He migrated toward business management and marketing after success in the music and party business, and finished a B.S. in Business Administration.
At parties, McIntires expertise quickly earned him the DJ position. He drew such a crowd to house parties that people began to ask him to throw their parties he was friends with everyone and could make the best dance floor Lawrence, Kan. had ever seen. Anyone in Lawrence, Kansas, could tell you that the most well-known non-athlete personality was a DJa local Van Wilder. Local bars noticed McIntire and it wasnt long before he was asked to do Wednesday nights at Johnnys Tavern. Never mind that Wednesday was the deadest night in town, he took on the challenge. At first there were about 15 people in attendance, but after about a month, there were 100 people every Wednesday, and then 150, then 200. By the end of the semester, a biker bar by day had become a hip-hop club by night. When local celebrities like Nick Collison and Drew Gooden came back in town, they would go to Kansas City to club on Thursdays and the weekends, but on Wednesdays, they came to Johnnys Tavern in Lawrence.
Following his success at Johnnys, McIntire pursued shows on Thursday nights at the Granada and Saturdays at Abe & Jakes. More than 500 people went through the door on McIntires first Saturday at Abe & Jakes. Next thing you know, he was opening for every Tech9 show in Kansas and Missouri. Success continued as he went on to open for Juvenile in Austin, Texas over spring break 2004 and for the Executioners at the Granada in Lawrence. DJ Scottie Macs name spread so that people were driving in from other cities on a weekly basis to hit his dance floor. Today he continues to DJ Saturday nights at Abe & Jakes with more than 1000 in attendance on a weekly basis.
McIntires ability to pack a club made it clear that he had more than an ear for music, he had a talent for bringing people to a place. So he began to promote for the clubs and for events, and developed and ran a street team. DJ 151 showed him how to heat up the streetsputting up fliers and getting the word around. They had the X-factor that put them over the top. Week after week they came up with new ideas and new ways to promote and market their shows. McIntire has developed such a following that other promoters and clubs plan stuff around his events, so they dont have to compete with his competition. After successfully working for two years in the industry, McIntire began DTA Productions, in 2005, a full productions and management company made up of over 5 DJs, a hiphop group and Producer, renown for leverage in promotions and marketing.
McIntire gets more than 100 demos a semester from artists wanting him to find something great in their music. When he needed an introduction for himself, he went to talk to a producer from Leavenworth, Kan., J White. After he heard him produce the exact beat he had in mind, McIntire felt he had the same sense that he had as a DJ, and J White became the first non-DJ member of DTA Productions. Through J White, he became involved with Freelanze Entertainment a three member group out of Leavenworth that had been writing, rapping and performing with J White. McIntire believed that J White and Freelanze Entertainment had what it takes to make it in the industry and Freelanze believed that DTA Productions could take them to the top, so McIntire became their official manager. McIntire has booked more than 15 shows per month for J White and Freelanze Entertainment, including shows in Oklahoma City and Phoenix, and now does all of their business and promotions. McIntire orchestrated the release of their first official EP and contacts with several major recording artists.
While an ear for music got him a name on the street as a DJ, his ability to market to the college crowd and the 16- to 25- year olds that buy CDs, go to concerts, and pack clubs that got him a name as a marketer and promoter. Hes managed shows with multiple DJs, giveaways, and is always mixing it up at different venues with different setups. McIntire was the first person ever to bring shadow box dancers into a club in Lawrence. From hosting parties of 100 to doing shows for over 1,300 persons, hes consistently created the hottest parties in the Midwest, including shows in Colorado, Kansas, Texas, Nebraska, Arizona, Missouri, and Illinois. McIntire is nationally known for the Kansas Relays after party which is in attendance by several gold medalists, NFL and NBA players.
McIntire is also the official promoter of four clubs in Lawrence and two of the largest clubs in the Midwest. Hes been part of the promotions team for Ludacris, Murphy Lee, Nina Sky and Nappy Roots and has opened and promoted for Nellys DJ, DJ Charlie Chan and Chingys DJ, DJ Sno. Hes done more than 100 different hiphop concerts, and is now the promoter, DJ, and production manager for every show he does at Abe & Jakes. Hes acquired sponsorship for Verizon Wireless and Coors Light, and is the local spokesperson for Pita Pit, Godfathers and Thai House. He was the official DJ of the Coors Light Regional Finals qualifying party with Coors Light sponsorship and part of the Regional Finals in Chicago, and is the Music Director of the Kansas City Record Pool, which includes more than 30 DJs. Recent events include Ghost Face, Juelz Santana, 8ball and MJG. Upcoming events include Bun B, Lil Wayne, and Dem Franchise Boys.
McIntire now focuses more on the management and production side than DJing. Though his recognition as a DJ is what earned him a name and respect in the hiphop community, its his drive that has made him the next Russel Simmons or PDiddy in the making. His diversity of work from creating a sought-after venue in the Thai house, to nationally renown concerts and hiphop shows, to Greek parties and formals, makes him an anomaly in the business and a major player in the future of the industry.
