Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

About Me

I recently changed my display name because I think my old one of Psychophilosophile was just confusing people more than it was worth. I think lately I've begun to understand myself a little better than I have in the past, but then again, I am constantly thinking that. I like a balance, and I like variety, but when I'm by myself, I usually lack those things. I like to be around friends who help me find other options for ways of spending my time. I like video games, which is what a good portion of my life revolves around, except when I'm in school, and studying the human psyche. Psychology is what I love, and I graduated fall '05 with my Baccalaureate degree in Psychology with a minor in Math. I'm loving my new job working at a drug rehab for adolescents. I do know that I like to help people, especially in matters of the mind, ergo I want to be a psychologist, which will take more schooling. Sometimes I like to feel needed, and sometimes it feels nice to feel wanted. Anyway, that's pretty much it. Anything else you'll have to ask about.

My Interests

Video games, mostly World of Warcraft lately, building and playing on computers, psychology, some anime, Futurama, Family Guy, South Park, DDR, Karaoke Revolution (or Karaoke in General), Inuyasha, etc...

I'd like to meet:

Someone who has a lot of common interests with me, who's cute and who thinks I'm cute. People who aren't fake or superficial, who want similar things out of life as I do. I usually go for skinny/slightly muscular guys, but what really counts with me is a strong, intelligent mind.

Music:

Punk, alternative, rock, and some pop, occasionally techno, rarely country, even more rarely rap or R&B. My favorite bands include, but are not limited to: A Perfect Circle, Breaking Benjamin, Cold, Godsmack, Hawthorne Heights, All American Rejects, Blueline Medic, Lagwagon, Armchair Martian, Badastronaut, Verbow, Samiam, Matchbox 20, Nickeback, Tool, System of a Down, and many more...

Movies:

Spiderman 2 is one of my favorites, the Kill Bill series, As Good as it Gets, The Matrix (I like the first one the best), Fearless, Silent Hill, The Lord of the Rings trilogy...

Television:

Heroes was practically made just for me, it's my favorite show! Six Feet Under was a great show when it was still on HBO. Futurama, Southpark, Family Guy, Simpsons (though not so much recently), Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Inuyasha...

Books:

The entire Dragonlance series by Margaret Weis and Tracey Hickman, The Lord of the Rings, The Lord of the Flies, Just Another Kid, Farenheit 451, Dante's Inferno, 1984, the Ravenloft Series, The Death Gate Cycle, Just Another Kid, The Forgotten Realms (especially the Avatar Trilogy), and anything psychology related. The most recent book I read for fun, rather than for school, was The Light of Other Days, by Stephen Baxter, which was awesome.

Heroes:

I have a hard time listing a hero, probably because having a hero is a form of idealism, and that runs counter to my realism.

The Cycle Continues

So here I am again, at the end of another failed relationship. Feels like I've been through this too many times, like I should have learned a lesson somewhere along the way but I never did. I can't ...

A Change of Paradigm

Shortly after I wrote my last blog, I looked back on it and realized that I've been looking at life in a completely skewed way lately. Just the act of writing my previous blog helped me start to sort...

Unhappy Independence Day

Today I drove home from Lava Hot Springs, where I was on vacation with my dad and his family the last couple of days. As I drove home, I began to think back on the last couple of years, on all the pe...

The Big Move

Well, the move to Layton is complete. Ironically, it's the same apartment complex I lived in over three years ago, and the same place I moved away from when a lot of things in my life fell apart. No...

A little nervous, but hopeful

I went to the doctor yesterday and found out I have to get my tonsils removed soon.  Yuck.  So, I go in for my first real surgery next Friday, and I'm a little nervous about it. ...

I'm looking for advice

I've been getting really annoyed with being lonely and bored all the time lately.  Work has stabilized to the point where it's not too stressful, and home life has settled down to a comfortable r...

All things new, nothing borrowed, I'm not blue

Today is an interesting day. I got a job interview at a drug rehab, which is something that I've wanted to do for a while now. The pay is good, the schedule...strange, but I'm ok ...

Ranting

I guess I'm just in a writing mood right now.  I don't have anything specifically to say either, so I'll write in stream of consciousness.  I'm just restless.  The old feelings o...
