About Me

Bittersweet melancholy over delicious guitars, interspersed with a moodier, bluesy sound. Tender vocals, effortlessly delivered with gossamer touch. Acoustic songs are given room to breathe, mixing achingly melancholic melodies with the odd spiky chorus, and traces of electronica adding ambiance to the lush arrangements of cello, piano, bass and drums.
Roger completed the recording of his first full-length album 'Last Time I Was There' ‘in Riverside Studios, Bath under the watching eye of producer Seb Pecchia (credits: Robert Plant; Jeff Beck.)It is a record of stunning quality, with lush arrangements that captured the beauty of Roger’s new material but never lost the delicate narrative that flows through each song. His tender vocals, effortlessly delivered with gossamer touch, mixed with achingly melancholic melodies and a lyrical insight that far outstrips expectation. The album received an enthusiastic response by all that heard them, with the plaintive ‘Walk with Me’ chosen to feature on the Warner Bros DVD of ‘Dawson’s Creek.’ The album went on to pick up reviews in the UK national press and led to a place on Radio 1’s ‘In New Music We Trust’ with supporting play from BBC and commercial radio stations in the regions.
A three year consecutive run at Bristol’s Ashton Court Festival is just a small reflection of the level of respect and pleasure Roger generates, and his carefully-chosen melodies proved a hit when he was the guest on Keith James’ recent ‘Songs of Nick Drake’ tour, with Drake’s fans finding parallels in Roger’s easy style and delivery, and his version of the Drake track ‘From the Morning’ appearing in the documentary film ‘Fruit Tree.’
He has completed two tours of Germany to support the album’s release which led to a place representing the city of Bristol in Oct 2007 Jubilee twinning celebrations with Hannover. He has played all over the South West and continues to pick up new fans wherever he goes.
Roger is currently recording his second album at Riverside Studios due for completion in the spring of 2009.The debut album 'Last Time I Was There' is available across Europe via Pink Hedgehog Records (UK/Shellshock) and Dandyland Records (Germany/Cargo), and can also be bought direct from rogers site using PayPal.

Folkhouse gig review Sunday 26th by Julian Owen (Venue)
