ENGLISH : Rap,as well as hip-hop, has often been defined by its urban roots and associated with them. Mista SBK's rap comes from the frontier,from between two worlds, from the periphery. Mista SBK grew up at Porte de Vanves, in the "156 projects", where he became familiar with hip-hop culture. His lyrics take us back to these red bricks buildings which border the Paris Ring Road.
He Started with Basse Vision as a duet with Gram : 3 promotional disks were released between 1998 and 2001.
After a participation in the album of Monsieur Salek (2Good) and more than ten different mix tapes, he joined the Fondation Metisse's crew (Mutant Clan) in 2001. In 2002, the crew released an album and gave plenty of concerts: Printemps de Bourges, Le Nouveau Casino, Le Glazart, la Fleche d'Or...All these experiences gave him the artisitc maturity which enables him to work now on a personnal project. His rap is as much atypical as he is and as his place of birth is and, through the old school sonorities, he voices the new ones which come from this periphery and which are neither in nor off.His rap is an instinctive and direct one with fluid but strong lyrics, a specific and totally mastered prononciation which makes his punch lines really different and unique: Mista SB..K comes from the periphery, his rap is one of the periphery.
This Album, Colis Piege, directed and produced with the collaboration of L'1PI, the musical conceptor of Fondation Metisse, combines a specific and homogeneous musical language which many artists of the parisian suburbs share. The final touch as been put by the sound engineer Jeff Dominguez (Kery James, 113, Oxmo Puccino...). The result gives a perfect sound unity inspired by the first French rap generations (NTM) and by the hip-hop melodies of the nineties in USA(WuTang).
