About Me
Layout by CoolChaserHailing from the southside of Chicago, home of the blues, soul and stepping and raised on the not-so-suburban streets of the Chicagoland suburb Aurora, Illinois (A-Illa), Rycco is the newest sensation on the R&B scene. The self-proclaimed "Mr. Sing Ya Panniez Off," has been at this since he was a youngin. Rycco's self taught talents include singer/songwriter/producer/arranger.Quite the late bloomer, Rycco did not begin to sing until the age of 15, "I really didn't want to sing, and the piano lessons and what not was just something I wasn't into when I was younger. Which was strange, because I received my first keyboard at the age of eight, which is also when I started playing at church during services." "My first love was sports, and I always dreamed of playing basketball, but my grades weren't too right when I was in high school. I always knew I could sing very early on, which is what helped me when I gave up on my hoop dreams.""I'm an 80's baby, so by the time I was able to really pay attention and listen to music, it was during the early 90's, which was the New Jack Swing era, with such groups like Guy, BBD, and Jodeci leading the pack. 'Round 1994 Kells dropped his first album and I was hooked." The influence R. Kelly has had on Rycco can be heard not only through words but also with production. "Kells really showed me how to put it down and that you gotta be able to do it all, if need be. I believe that it is very important to take the biggest role in your music. I mean if I couldn't produce i would still have to write the majority of the material, because I feel like no one can capture your true self better than you." But the "Pied Piper," isn't the only artist who has had a an influence on Rycco, "Before my dad became an ordained minister, he would always play his soul records from the 70's and make me listen to them, such artist as Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Cooke, and Blue Magic, really taught me the importance to display soul and passion in whatever you do, thats not just music but life as well."When asked about the current state of music and what he brings to the table Rycco had this to say. "I'm really not too satisfied with what's goin' on with the music today. I mean where have the lyricists and people who really have something to say gone? Why is it that R&B cats don't have to know how to sing no more?" " But don't get me wrong there's always silver lining in every gray cloud, and there are people out there i like that put it down. I feel like I embody everything that makes a good artist, and yes i said artist. I feel my music can stand the test of time and not just be here for a season. I got shit that can make you dance, songs to make babies to. Songs for my drinkers, my guys and girls on the block all that, but at the end of the day, in every one of those songs my lyrics are as air-tight as the production behind it." "Now I don't mean to get my Kanye on, especially being that I'm from the Chi' too, but at some point something's gotta give. I'm startin' to feel like I'm gettin' old cuz i sound like my parents, I'd much rather listen to the songs i grew up on than todays radio.""So that's what the ENTER-mission is, a break from the show. For those of you who paid to see it and for those of you who have been forced to sit here and deal with it. Here's a breath of fresh air."GET READY 4 THE ENTER-mission!!!!
