After I graduated from high school, I traveled off to the wonderful world of Michigan State. I made lots of great friends at State, worked as an RA in Holmes Hall for 2 years, and even went to some classes. I graduated with my degree in Fisheries and Wildlife (and an unnaturally low GPA!) in 1999 and moved home to work at the YMCA.
I decided I really liked working with little kids and got a job as a kindergarten aide in the same district where I went to elementary school and went back to school to get my Master's in elementary education at Wayne State University. I will graduate whenever I write my thesis with a 4.0 GPA!
I taught reading in first and second grade at an elementary school for a couple of years and even picked up a part time professor job at a community college teaching remedial reading courses. I also completed two semesters of student teaching in a 3rd grade classroom and in preschool in Detroit. Now, I finally have my own classroom and a steady paycheck. I'm a kindergarten teacher at a charter school in Detroit and I absolutely love it!
I got married on July 15, 2006. The wedding was perfect and I couldn't have asked for anything better.
We bought a house in Redford in May of 2005. It's a major fixer-upper, but it will beautiful in about 10 years! It's already on its way.
We have three cats (Kali, Oliver, and Rafferty) and I would really, really like a dog. For right now, I'm happy with my 32 kids that go home at 4pm every day.
