About Mackin Rob
Let the Rhythm take you, “Music makes me Highâ€! That’s Mackin’ Rob’s musical promise to you as listeners. Just play his music grooves and in due time he will make you move. Mackin’ Rob wants to rekindle the magic that was once associated with Hip Hop. This philosophy is evident when he talks of the musical influences of his career: Tupac Shakur, Notorious BIG, and Jay-Z all have such passion in their music. They make you feel what their rapping. Rob has studied his mentors well, he is a talented and intriguing young rapper whose showmanship reaches out and pulls you on stage with him. He combines his talent and mesmerizing good looks to make you feel he is only rapping to you ladies, causing you to experience the joy and pain he is rapping about. His smooth and sensitive approach to positive songs will defiantly become his trademark.Born in Great Falls Montana, and raised in Portland Oregon Rob discovered his rapping talent harmonizing with some neighborhood friends on the porch. Eventually he enters the Portland Apollo and won first place. By 1995 he was with Game Related Music in which he recorded his first single entitled “Ride Wit Meâ€! Later, Mackin’ Rob’s career then took a unique turn and he begin recording music for a local record label entitled Greenleaf Entertainment, in which the group “Rose City Playaz Club†was formed. The group released a CD in 1997 entitled “The Rose City Playaz Club†volume 1. You know them for the ever so popular “Colla Poppinâ€! Mackin’ Rob and label mate Brotha Luv in 2000 then went on to release another CD on Greenleaf Entertainment entitled “Oregonizedâ€! As one of the head rappers Mackin’ Rob’s opened up for performers such as Snoop Dogg, Dogg Pound, Bad Ass, Too $hort, E-40, The Luniz, 3XKrazy, Richie Rich, the late Great OLD-Dirty Bastard, The Roots, Talib Kweli, Common, Ying Yang Twins, Red Man & Method Men, Nelly, Foxy Brown , Donell Jones ,112, and Ginuwine.
Mackin’ Rob has also appeared on the “Keep it real†show hosted by Kenny Warren, the North East Spectrum show hosted by Joe Bean Keller and he has done several commercials, fashion shows, various local television, and cable shows in the greater Portland area. Mackin’ Rob not only raps the music but he writes it too, he feels that makes him a double threat to the industry. In 2003 Rob graduated from Portland Community College with an Associates of Arts degree in Business Administration. In 2005 Rob then graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing & Advertising. With two degrees under his belt Rob set out to release his highly anticipated long awaited double solo albums’ under his new record label UP’NORTH Records/Greenleaf Entertainment and ANIMAL HOUSE Management entitled “Associates of Artz†& “Bachelor of Scienceâ€. He also plans to release his second Compilation project in early 2008 entitled “Rose City Playaz Club Volume 2â€. Mackin’ Rob is an entertainer who will be around for a long time to come and he promises never to let go, “So let the Rhythm take youâ€!
