About Me

**NOTE** I will be traveling until mid-June, so my emails and myspacing will be very limited. Please do not take offense if I don't get back to you right away. That includes texts and phone calls. Going to Salt Lake City, Whistler BC, San Fran, and Orlando!
*PERU WAS AMAZING* - Pics are up!
Summary - Adventurous, World Traveler, Intelligent, Creative, Witty, Passionate, Somewhat Introverted, Hedonistic, Soul Searching, Percussionist, INTJ.
I'm a bit of a sarcastic smartass, irreverent, devilish, witty, great conversation, and while I can have and be fun at a social gathering, I'm at heart a deep thinking introvert, finding rapture in a quiet sunset, a mountain backdrop, being by myself in the forest, rain on the roof, thunderstorms, etc. You'll notice a lot of my pictures are of landscapes.
TRAVEL - I travel a lot - both for work and pleasure. Check out my pics. I've been to: Peru, Australia, Guatemala, Asia - China, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Europe - England, Ireland, Paris, Belgium, Germany, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Austria, Switzerland, Hawaii, Caribbean, and all over the US and Canada.
Destinations high on my wishlist - South America (Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile), Mediterranean (Morroco, Italy, Spain, Greece), Middle East (Egypt, Turkey, Jordan (Petra), Iran), New Zealand, Hawaii again, South Africa in 2010 for World Cup
I have a degree in music - in percussion - it's my true passion and something I want to rekindle in Portland.
I also enjoy taking photos, the backdrop is one of mine.

My Interests

Experiencing new things - I'll try almost anything once! Great conversation, sparks, traveling the world, playing music, taking photos, falling in love, Organic food, Sushi, thunderstorms, reading a good book, deep thoughts, playing devil's advocate, being a smartass, games of strategery like chess, crossword puzzles, sudoku, bending the rules, living life without boundaries, generally living it up until I die.

I'd like to meet:

The love of my life.

I have a degree in music, so I pretty much like everything except most country and gansta rap. Here's a much too short list of highlights: Christopher O'Riley plays Radiohead; Radiohead; Air; Pink Floyd; Morphine; Portishead; Miles Davis; Coltrane; Coldplay; Stone Temple Pilots; Phish; Dave Matthews; Beck; Damien Rice; Ray LaMontagne; David Gray; Nine Inch Nails; Hendrix; Led Zeppelin; The Doors; Nirvana; Pearl Jam; Smashing Pumpkins; Beastie Boys; Primus; Black Eyed Peas; Van Halen; World Music; The Beatles; Spanish/Latin guitar; Norah Jones; Shawshank Redepmtion soundtrack; The Last Temptation of Christ soundtrack (Peter Gabriel); Classical Guitar; Blues; Jazz that's not too atonal; some Philip Glass; Classical Piano - Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Debussy; some country like Johnny Cash; I could fill pages.

One of the highlights of my life was arranging and performing Chopin for vibraphone. I hope to eventually get some of that on my page.

I've recently been obsessed with Air - Virgin Suicides soundtrack, Moon Safari, and Premiers Symptomes albums; Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (all-time classic); and Morphine - The Night.

Movies:

Shawshank Redemption is my all-time favorite movie - the music is amazing and it fits my character. Cinema Paradiso; City of God; High Fidelity; Lost in Translation; Pulp Fiction; Memento; Swingers; The Usual Suspects; Seven; Fight Club; No Country for Old Men; North by Northwest; American Beauty; Sideways; Office Space; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Adaptation; Being John Malkovich; Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon; Requiem for a Dream; Sin City; 2001: A Space Odyssey; Amadeus; The Lives of Others; Oldboy (check it out!); Once (hidden treasure!); V for Vendetta (book is even better); Princess Bride; Liar Liar; Tommy Boy; Lock Stock; I also like a lot of comedies, sci-fi, documentaries, independents, good foreign films (subtitles don't scare me), heists/capers, Spy movies, anything with an intelligent plot, and sappy love stories, I'm a romantic at heart.

Television:

The Colbert Report is the funniest show on TV! A very close second is It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Also like: Flight of the Conchords; PBS/NPR; LOST (I am a fanatic); Californication; Weeds; Dexter; Da Ali G Show; Daily Show; Heroes; Family Guy; Babylon 5; Battlestar Galactica (modern); Samurai Jack; 24; Prison Break; Entourage; Tenacious D (HBO); Survivor; CSI Las Vegas (only); The Office UK and US; The Closer; Numb3rs; The Amazing Race; Six Feet Under; The Bachelor (guilty pleasure); Star Trek TNG; Seinfeld; Curb Your Enthusiasm; Friends.

Books:

Currently reading - Stephen Colbert - I am America and So Can You! Also on my hot list: Getting Stoned with Savages by J. Maarten Troost and This is Your Brain on Music by Daniel Levitin.

I wish I had more time to read... I have stacks of books I'd like to get to... Noam Chomsky; Richard Dawkins; Jared Diamond; Stephen Hawking; Victor Frankl; Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation is great!); Daniel Goleman; I read a lot of travel books since I travel so much - just bought "1000 Places To See Before You Die"; also I read far too many computer books for my job

Heroes:

My friend Spencer. Stephen Colbert. Keith Olbermann. Richard Dawkins. Anyone with the courage to speak truth to power. Anyone with the courage to defy social convention to do the right thing.
