Sony's Screen Gems has set a September 21, 2007 release date for the anticipated third installment, Resident Evil: Extinction, directed by Russell Mulcahy and written by Paul W.S. Anderson. The video game adaptation will star Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Mike Epps, Ali Larter, Chris Egan, Ashanti, Iain Glen, Sienna Guillory, Spencer Locke and John Eric Bentley.
The third and final installment of the $100 million "Resident Evil" hits, "Resident Evil: Extinction" is again based on the wildly popular video game series and picks up where the last film left off. Alice (Milla Jovovich), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead... and to seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive.
Although Sony Pictures has dubbed this movie the last Resident Evil of a three part series, can we really believe it after the history people are bringing back in the movie business. Most thought Star Wars was only a trilogy as well until someone decided to double it into a trilogy times two. Not to mention the remakes we keep seeing in the box-office.
The line for this third film labels it as "the third and final installment." Leading us to come to the conclusion that we wont be seeing any more t-virus victims running amuck in our American towns. Although, most fans disagree on it being the final film do to recent observation. As shown in the Resident Evil Video game series, the evil never has an end. Even though they created Resident Evil 1 through 4. They have managed to create offshoots such as Resident Evil Outbreak, Code: Veronica, etc. While even taking the Star Wars theory on film by bringing us a Resident Evil 0 masterpiece on GC (Gamecube.) Along with it they joined the list of movie remakes with Resident Evil 1 for GC (on the top of the remake list if you as me.) While even now fans await another thriller to be expected, Resident Evil 5.
So as I sit and wait with the rest of fans for the Resident Evil: "final" Extinction movie, I wonder what the future holds in the movie business for the conspiracy driven horror adventure Resident Evil.

Where is Raccoon City
From what I can imagine since the incident in october of 1998, Umbrella has carefully discarded any information or history on the whereabouts of the actual city. Many ideas have been speculated but none yet proven. Though the town has practically been "cut-off" from the rest of the world. Word got out of experiments still taking place in the remains of Raccoon City.

......A jet flies over the crater of Raccoon City, and takes photographs of the landscape. The photographs are transmitted down into an observation tower located deep within the crater, which has now been totally quarantined and fenced off.
The scientists at the base talk about how non-human life forms have survived 6 months on, and talking to an unknown person on the phone, mention how they are going to begin a series of tests......"

Resident Evil actually began in 1921 when James Marcus was born. It became public, to a very small public, in 1998 at Raccoon City in the forests of Pennsylvania.

For those unfamiliar with the series, at first mysterious corporation later known as Umbrella, has secretly been performing ungodly biotech experiments in the sleepy little town of Raccoon City.The series begins and escalates around the corporation known as Umbrella as its many raising enemies joining the ex-S.T.A.R.S. members who began the fight against the corporation after a spill in their remote town of Raccoon City.From the beginning, it has been known by the ex-S.T.A.R.S. members that Umbrella is responsible for the creation of the T-Virus. A virus said to kill the living and reanimate the dead...
