About Me

It would probably be a good idea, at this juncture, to update my profile. Although, honestly, I doubt anyone reads it but why the hell not. Wow, that sums me up pretty well, a lot of apathy and even more sarcasm. Or wit as Jane Austin liked to call it. I sound far snarkier than I actually am. But you would know that if you knew me. I'm a historian, I have what is basically a double Masters in History and something called Pubic History which is the study of History in public institutions. This means, for me, that I work in the collections department of a museum. By collections I do not mean the "break your knees with a baseball bat" kind of collections but rather the type museums have. I play with nifty old objects all day and get paid to do it. Not really a tough job because I like it. I also help with creating exhibits and all the things that go with exhibits (loans, packing, shipping, dealing with crazy collectors) and the like. I am a Feminist and a Humanist which sounds far heavier than they are; I'm just rather liberal in my thought patterns. This is rather ironic for a girl who grew up in a Reagan Republican family. I would like to meet other Humanists and a guy who can deal with a woman who has an opinion and will express it. I have been told I'm rather intimidating which is funny because my nick name in high school was Mom as I was always there for my friends be they a boy or a girl...

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

As I have looked about I have seen people saying they wish to meet specific people so here is my little lists.Living: Kevin Spacey, Josh Bernstein (but that’s for illicit purposes), Barack Obama, Prince Charles (I actually think he is fascinating, not the brightest but has great forethought for his country and people), Jimmy Carter (mostly to find out what the Hell is going on in his head some days!) and Caleb Carr. I'm sure I'll think of more.Dead: Basil Rathbone (his autobiography left me with a million questions), Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Oscar Wilde, John Smith and Pocahontas or Sacajawea. Again, I’m sure more will come to mind…

My Blog

Freaktastic

The following is an email [with some additives] I sent out to friends after a rather bizarre day at work.  I liked it enough to let the cyber work see it even if Tom Cruise does show up at my doo...

Random thoughts from a random mind

So, is it a bad thing that while standing in the line, and yes I do mean THE line, the one we all hate and can't understand and swear we won't have at our wedding, at my 21-year-old cousins wedding tw...

I have question...

Where in the hell have all the feminist gone?  Honestly!  I sit here, staring National Women's History Month in the face (which is March for those of you who don't know, this month is Nation...

Life on Line

So, as most of my friends know, I am not a fan of doing anything on line.  So, why, one might ask, do I have a MySpace account?  That has more to do with a large amount of cajoling from an o...

Vacation

So, I just got back from my first vacation in 3 + years and what should happen whilst I am away?  Oh, just three deaths and an attempted suicide!  Now, I must admit that none were immediate ...
