Turn Blue

About Me

After fronting multiple bands and experiencing only moderate success, Nathan Mathes decided to take some time off to contemplate his future of song writing at a time in the music industry when cookie-cutter pop bands were dominating the airwaves. His questions about his future were answered one day when he sat down at the piano to play and felt a renewed sense of urgency. Over the next few weeks he crafted some of his best songs to date and soon recorded what would be Turn Blue’s first EP.Turn Blue pride themselves on their ability to create their mid-fi indie-pop recordings on their own terms. Drawing their influence from 60's and 70's pop, modern electronic music, and the blue-collar melancholy of Green Bay's industrial surroundings, Turn Blue is a band more interested in conveying emotion through complex melody and deceptively minimal soundscapes than conveying a meaning or message through played-out lyrical ideas. They are dedicated to constructing quality albums that can be enjoyed in their entirety. To date the band has released two full-length albums to positive reviews from critics and fans alike. With a rapidly expanding fan base and plans to record a new album, Turn Blue is poised to have a break out year in 2009.
