--KNOW THE KIDD: KAYO--
Also known as JayC, Jason L. Keyz or simply KawTune, Kayo was first introduced to rap music when his friend's relative from New Orleans sent them two copies of The B.G'z Chopper City album through the mail. He started to listen to it everyday and fell in love with the CD and rap music in general. In 1998, he heard about the Cash Money/Universal agreement and realized that rap can be his way out. Influenced by 'CMB/226', in 1998, at ages 9 & 10, he and his friend Kevin "Soulja" Styles formed the duo "Young-N-Da-Ruthless" and they would battle other groups in their neighborhood. As more people joined the group, the group's name would change from Young-N-Da-Ruthless to kru World order (kWo) to simply the 412KRU. That group tragically ended on May 21, 2001 when Dorian Case, Kevin 'Soulja Stylez', Jamie 'Young Stunna' Truman and Joshua 'Young Blood' Knight were hit by strays in a drive-by shooting, leaving Kayo (then known as Lil' Yung Buck) as the Last Man Standing.
--KAYO PRESENTZ: YOUNG STUNNA BOYZ--
Knowing that he couldn't let the KRU'z death hold him down, he kept going. Later that year he assembled a new group, Lil' Lunaticz (LL52), which included Lil Yung Buck (Kayo), Lil' B (CVB/Hood Boy Beez of L.I.D.), Young Lance (L-Cutta), Scotty 2 Hotty (SK of TMS/THN) and Lil' G (Goater of YGK). In 2002, he seen other record forming and the dissolution of the main label he looked up to: Cash Money Records. So he knew he had to start on what he NEVER would have thought about doing: CREATE HIS OWN RECORD LABEL. Keep it hood, but make his own. So he and his cousin Maurice 'Smurf' Davenport started Thug Force 1 Records, now known as Hood Conn Records. It wasn't until 2006, though, that they had the resources they needed to finally be in effect. On November 28th, 2006, Young Stunna Boyz, which included Kayo, CVB, Young Nibb, A-Dogg, Tone-T & D-Nice, dropped their first Hood Starz Records release, WestSide Connection V1, which was followed by WestSide Connection V2 on January 8, 2008, and then Kayo's Number 1 Young Stunna in April 28, 2008, followed by 4 features on 'Money Is Da Motivation' by Young'nz N Charge, released on June 10th, 2008. At this point, Kayo & Hood Conn Records is working on a new mixtape 'Hood Connection Is An Army', featuring Young Stunna Boyz, Hood Boy Beez, YGK, Leah Lee, THN, D-Nice, Day Day and more due out December 23, 2008, the fourth release from Hood Conn Records.
--LIFE AFTER YSBz--
In October 2008, Kayo announced his departure from the group he's remained faithful to for 7 years, the Young Stunna Boyz. To make a long story short, he didn't feel they were just as serious as he was. He still remains on good terms with Tone Dro, A-D-O & MoneyBagz, collectively known as The Ave Boyz, and may still feature them on his 2nd solo offering '205 Degreez', which should also feature Terri Williams, Ace Boog, Geezy, L-Cutta, Leah~Lee, Gizz, GK Man and more.
