About Me

Hi everyone!! My name is Heather... I'm 33, single and lovin' life!... I feel like the world is at my fingertips and I'm finally mature and wise enough to turn my dreams into my reality!
I have 2 degrees from NYU, but have enjoyed a never dull and forever stimulating career in the Bar/Restaurant/Nightclub Industries over the past 16 years... You name it, I've probably done it!... From short order cook to coat check; waiting tables to tending bar; promotions, advertising and design to sales building and event coordination... I've worn all the hats and worked in almost every facet that helps make the big "Wheel of Revenue" turn!
I've worked many places and learned alot over the years. These are my personal guidelines:
1) ALWAYS stay positive (pessimism is the #1 killer of all great concepts).
2) Remain honest (not only to the business, but to yourself).
3) Remember to ignore the Gossipmonger (there's always one or two and nothing good ever comes from listening to, or worse, conveying their opinions).
4) Leave the personal life at home (this one's always been tough for me... Especially, when I've had jobs that meant working extremely long hours, closely with a group of people)... I do my best, but sometimes the proverbial shit is bound to hit the fan!
5) Know when it's time to walk away and move on (sometimes an environment can lack all chemistry... So much so, that no amount of optimism will make it work). DO NOT waste personal energy on trying to change the minds or opinions of others! Instead, use it to find the ones you DO mesh and meld with!
6) FOLLOW THE $$ (No matter how much you like a place, if you can't pay the bills, it means it's time to find more work)!
So, to sum up, chemistry, creativity, sanguinity, honesty, hard work and the willingness to learn are what have become my "key staples" for making it in the Hospitality Biz!
Now it's time for me to focus on my "Wheel of Fortune" and there are two things left for me to accomplish (my goal is to do so by the time I'm 35):
1) Travel and see more of the world! Ever since I graduated college I always wanted to work aboard a Cruise Line! The only thing holding me back was my fear of missing out on all the things that might happen at home... When in reality, I've been missing out on the rest of the world and all the brand new experiences, possiblities and people it holds!! So, I'm in the process of re-vamping my resumes and choosing which major Cruise Lines I'd like to send them to and then, I'll just mail them... Simple as that! I don't want to look back in 10 years and say, "What if?"!!
2) To own my own bar... This is the BIG ONE!! So, I've started my business plan and when that's complete, my search for investors begins... And hopefully, in about 5 years, my bar on the beach (I'm thinking FL, but anywhere warm year-round is fine), will become a reality!
So, that's where I'm at in my life as of the 4th of July, 2006!! Periodically, check my BLOG pages to see my progress (I'll also be posting some of my poetry)!! And feel free to drop me a line if you'd like to chat!
Thanks for visiting my place on MySpace! ;-)

Courage   Fearlessly I face my fears. Examining them without anxiety. Trying not to withhold the tears, That bind me to those fears, untimelessly.   Like a spring bud, slow to unfold,...
