Callel

About Me

An entity consisting of an Arron, two Craigs and a Philip; Callel grew up in the same neighbourhood, went to the same school, caught the same round of chicken pox, played in the same football team and now perform in the same band. Whether this is through fierce loyalty, or naive insularism, the resulting music makes them happy. Callel have supported Paolo Nutini, Rooney, (selected to play by the NME ), The Bluetones, The Hip Parade and Asobi Seksu.Their wise and beautiful fans have largely been acquired by performing in such esteemed venues as King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, The Liquid Room, QMU, Queen's Hall, Caird Hall (crowned 'Best Band' at the last Ultimate Chill Festival), Princes Street Gardens Main Stage, Glasgow Barrowlands and various festivals across the country. The band plan to continue up the musical ladder until they can be sustained solely by the income made from their popular Callel-branded coasters (perfect for your cup of tea)."Callel will be a fantastic addition to Scotland's roster of world-class acts."
Edinburgh Evening News"Phenomenal- I saw Callel at the Jamhouse and they were brilliant. I urge you to see this band live as they are very, very good indeed. They have an armoury of ace tunes."
Vic Galloway, Radio 1"...a well of natural chemistry and melodic prowess."
The Skinny"Young, talented revelations Callel are a four-piece with a refreshing urge to sound that bit different...Callel look to a super future."
The Scotsman"The Edinburgh band are already on the radar...gorgeous melodies and harmonies burn long into the memory."
The Daily Record "‘I’d Like To See Your Brain’ is the one that will stick like glue. Hear this song once and it will automatically add itself to that playlist that exists deep inside us all. It really is that good. "
Music News Scotland"In ‘Try To Be Quiet’ they even have a genuinely moving album-closer for the future, showing just how far ahead of the rest of the pack they already are… a truly great band."
Is This Music? "Glorious!"
Jim Gellatly, BBC Radio Scotland"...their hour-long set is over all too quickly. Thankfully, Callel don't appear to want to sound like every other indie/rock band around at the moment. It's a blessing for anyone listening, that much is certain."
