Influences: The first two cds I ever bought were Sgt. Pepper and Andrew Lloyd Webber's greatest hits. Mind you, I was twelve, but it's significant as a start. From there I moved onward and upward in two different directions. On the one hand, there followed R.E.M., the pixies, the breeders, bad religion, weezer, that dog, and built to spill, and more. While the other hand held Gershwin, Aaron Copland, Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky, Dvorak, Bernstein, and even more. You see the dilemma. Concert bands, marching bands, big bands, trombone ensembles, brass choirs, pop/punk bands, indie rock bands, and a soul band on Beale Street. I could go on, but the point is I never graduated. Let's fill in the gaps a little, bridge the chasms, if you will. The Ventures, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington,Willie Nelson, Herb Alpert, Johnny Cash, Belle and Sebastian, Roy Orbison, Neil Young. If you were wondering what the first TAPE I ever bought was, here it is: INXS, Kick.
