Spazpup records is a slightly dented megaphone in which to scream , whimper ,howl and whine. X-pression without leashes . Music with teeth .Chad inherited his musicality and artistic restlessness from his family, which includes a Juno award winning blues artist, a Country music crooner and a professional session singer.
Chad dropped out of school in grade 11 and moved to Toronto where he got involved in photography and acting.He was signed to the Ford Talent Agency when he was 18. He has done work for Molson , Ford Motor Co., Nike , Flare Magazine , D&G and more. But that nagging, "wandering spirit" got the better of him, so he dropped everything and threw on a backpack and hit the road.
Clearly, success meant something more than money and recognition.In Athens, Greece Chad got his first shot as a professional musician , doing session work for Sunrise Studios. And that was it!!!He knew that writing and performing songs was what he would be doing for the rest of his life...whether he liked it or not. He was haunted by music.Chad hit the road through Europe, South America and Asia , all the while, picking up whatever work that he could get in the industry. This has ranged from busking on the streets for food money, hosting open stages , sitting in for missing band members, playing childrens songs, writing/recording songs for an international yoga video and voiceovers.After returning from Korea, Chad had the opportunity to audition for a band that was just signed to Jive Records and were on the verge of blowing up...Big Time!
That band was Three Days Grace.
Things didn't pan out with TdG, but such a close brush left him, strangely enough, more focused and confident than before.But this time he wanted to make his music. The songs that were close to his heart and had his sweat behind them. So he set off writing.Back in Ottawa, he joined up with a group of musicians that would eventually become the band that he still fronts,writes and plays guitar for , The Red Light Saints.The Red Light Saints have played/toured in Ontario and Quebec. They've had several songs played on mainstream and college radio. They have won band competitions such as the Big Money Shot and Concourse de Rock, which has garnered attention from the industry, bands and fans alike.
The Red Light Saints have built a reputation as one of Ottawa's most exciting and unpredictable live shows.SPAZPUP is the name that Chad uses for all his solo work, his recording and collaborations.Chad conjured up "Spazpup" as a means to ligitimize the countless hours spent writing , arranging , recording music that didn't seem to fit anywhere else. Spazpup's first release was Chad's E.P. "Old Time Murder" . Since then Spazpup has produced a variety of artists from punk to new age folk....but is still Chad's main artistic outlet for his original material , demos , b-sides , basement tapes and poetry.
Chad plays all the instruments on, and produces his albums.
The emphasis is free thought , venom and honesty....even if it requires cracking in public.
