Myspace LayoutsI got into soul music in the late 60s and early 70s,loved the groups ,the clothes,and of course the good looking girls.I really got addicted in the middle 70s with the whole funk thing,went to the Goldmine in Canvay Island where the legandry Chris hill played and never looked back.By 1984 I was running my own monthly gig with local djs and progressed onto Caister Soulweekend djs which included the likes of Robbie Vincent,Pete Tong(now radio one) jeff Young,Martin collins,sean French.tony Fernandez, ect ect.As the years went by we added a second room to have people like Bob Jones, Giles Peterson, Chris bangs ect.Then came acid House and Rave music,we booked djs such as Carl cox,Kenny Ken,Top Buzz,Sasha and the like.By 93 i,d had enough of dodgey promoters coming in and spoiling it all,we then called it a day.all through this I was still going to the Caister weekenders,5 years ago some people came to me and asked if i,d like to get involved in a new weekender which we called. www.soul-vilage.com.Istayed with them for 3 years and then with 2 friends went off and did our own weekender called.soulville (www.soulville.info).I play jazz and soul at ceasers back bar in gt yarmouth,we also have a monthly soul gig at the kings arms in the town.every 2 or 3 months I do my own events where we try and raise money for local kids.we are also hosting one of the rooms at the soul village weekender
