WDOA.com (no longer radio)

About Me

WDOA.com was an Internet Radio station that specialized in independent and unsigned recording artists. WDOA has ceased to stream due to draconian royalty payment requirements by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The RIAA effectively purchased Congress and handed them a royalty payment system that Congress rubber stamped. Despite the RIAA's claims that they are about compensating artists for their work, the RIAA is actually about complete control of the music distribution system. Ask 99% of people who have had recording contracts with major labels and see if they felt that the record companies were looking out for their best interests. WDOA was a non-profit Internet Radio station that was basically subsidized by a small group of all volunteer staff and listeners. No advertising was sold, no money was made by anyone associated with the station, however the RIAA's position that small operations like ours should still pay several thousand dollars a year in royalties, while also having to undertake onerous reporting requirements of what was played (not just what we played, but who listened (via IP address), at one times for how long and from what geographic areas. Make no mistake the major labels way of doing business will fall, unfortunately at this time we cannot risk our homes and bank accounts should the RIAA take legal action. May they long rot in hell.
