About Me

Southern California native Joshua Marin-Hepfl began developing his kinesthetic awareness while cultivating an interest in movement exploration and creative physical expression as a competitive skateboarder. Following a career as an effects artist, set decorator, and prop maker for the Film, Television, and Halloween industries, Joshua began his dance training in Los Angeles, studying with notable Dance Educators including Don Martin, Rudy Perez, Stefan Wenta, Loretta Livingston, and Holly Johnston. While in the U.S., Joshua was an apprentice with Stephanie Gilliland’s Tongue Contemporary Dance, and performed in works by Hae Kyung Lee, Marie de la Palme, Donald McKayle, and other L.A. based artists. Upon completion of a B.A. in dance from UC Irvine, Joshua’s artistic interests took him to Europe, where he performed with the Amsterdam based companies The Movement Network and Bodies Anonymous. While in Europe, Joshua also served as an apprentice with the Groningen based dance company Club Guy and Roni, as well as in the creation process with Dublin based Shakram Music and Dance. Joshua recently performed new work by Laura Gorenstein Miller's Helios Dance Theater; as well as with Los Angeles based dance companies TaskForce and KIN Dance. Joshua’s artistic direction and choreographic works have been presented in the U.S., Turkey, and China, with his latest piece "Voice of the Pain Body" being presented at Santa Monica's Broad Stage.
