In recent years the New York hip hop scene seems to have suffered a from a major slump. Labels do not seem to be interested in the lyricism "typical" of New York emcees and artists do not seem to be able to find a middle ground between "What the streets want" and "What the labels want". In an era where everyone seems to have dreams of stardom only a select few future stars shine bright enough to stand out in todays market.T.H.E.S.I.S originally from Sleepy Hollow, New York but currently living in Ossining, New York ( a suburb about 25 miles north of Manhattan made famous by The Sing Sing Correctional Facility) is a first generation American born to Ecuadorian parents. The move from A largely Hispanic Sleepy Hollow to a predominantly African American Ossining (at the time) had a major impact on a young T.H.E.S.I.S' life. No longer was he just another face in the crowd he had become "That Spanish kid in the hood". Growing up T.H.E.S.I.S always went against the norm which would bring its own ups and downs. He says " I was always different I just didn't care. Your either going to hate me or your gonna love me. At the end of the day I'm still gonna do me and there ain't nothing anyone can do about it. Take it or leave it". His balancing act to define himself as a person would prove to be the spark that fueled the fire to his future career in music.T.H.E.S.I.S would start his journey into music at a very early age when he started to write poetry as a youth. Soon an older cousin that lived with him would introduce him to hip-hop and everything would change. He says, "It's funny because music was never really in my household until my cousin moved in he 16 and I was 8 and he was really into hip-hop. I mean I had heard rap before but just not in the way I did when he was around. Other than my cousin no one really played any instruments or listened to anything other than the radio from time to time. They say my grandfather was a musician but he was killed when I was young so I never got to meet him. I don't know maybe it's in my blood or something." Eventually he came across some instrumentals and began to write short raps, "No one ever taught me how to write a song or count bars I kinda just picked it up as I went along" , this would eventually lead to recording and performing at local events and recognition amongst his peers. Not surprisingly he would earn respect for his skills as a writer as well as for his microphone skills.T.H.E.S.I.S' music can be described as the result of what happens when a Spanish kid in a African-American neighborhood blurs the ethnic lines and chooses hip-hop as his outlet. He manages to walk effortlessly on the fine line that separates hardcore street rappers and the pop acts of today. With all the different influences in his life it should come as no surprise that he always brings something fresh to the table. If versatility in hip-hop was ever to be personified it would undoubtedly be him. He has consistently shown his ability to mix lyricism and flow all while still being able to adapt to the various sub-genres of hip hop as well as other genres of music such as Reggaeton, and R&B. The surprises never seem to end with this up and comer, not only does he rap in English but he also writes in Spanish, Produces, does some graphic design work and is able to engineer, so it comes as no surprise that he would adopt the moniker "The Prince of all media"One should never mistake T.H.E.S.I.S for just another artist wanting to make it . His constant grind in different areas of music show he is here to make an impact on the industry. He has produced "Eye Of The Tiger" for fellow New York emcee Rockz, a song that has Appeared on New York's, Hot97's Drama Hour with DJ Kay Slay. Recently he has also collaborated with Skunk -One of Arizona's Sol-Camp on the song "Yo No Se". T.H.E.S.I.S is constantly on his grind appearing at various showcases/events throughout New York such as the iStandard Producers Showcase, The NoDramastateside Music Showcase at UndergroundNYC as well as Noche De Reinas for the Sociedad Ecuatoriana de Westchester. Also he has also had his music featured on websites such as Uglyradio.com and Lomaxinmoproductions.com . And if that is not enough to impress the average person T.H.E.S.I.S has also hosted/released various mix tapes of different genres which includes the very successful Summer Reign series (Reggaeton) in the summer of 2008.Currently T.H.E.S.I.S is working on a new mix tape of his songs for the summer of 2009 (Yet to be titled). Also in the works for T.H.E.S.I.S is his first all Spanish mix tape with Infamouz J as well as the Route 9 series of mix tapes for the summer. While he currently remains unsigned T.H.E.S.I.S continues to record new music and produce everyday. Always open to collaborate with new talent T.H.E.S.I.S' fan base continues to grow and as people take notice be sure that he will not remain a free agent for long.
