My age does not define me, I define my age.

About Me

Currently living on the homestead. Trying to clean the property up so that if we have to move again all my mother will have to do is mow the grass! However, my heart is planted on our 5 acres of clay infested earth and I'd hate to leave. If by some stroke of luck we do get to stay I have plans of an orchard (apples, pears, cherries, plums & peaches), a few bee hives (to help pollinate the trees), some blueberry bushes and strawberries and eventually a pond. I know, that's a lot of work for one girl but goals are good! I write short stories, draw, read books, play The Sims 2, GM a Modern D20 game and play AD&D. I grew up on a dirt road named after my family. I spent my days wandering around the woods with my brother Luc, riding our horse through the fields, helping our dad build a house, tending to my baby sister & brother, drawing, reading and playing AD&D. From Kindergarten to graduation I attended Central Cambria High School. Those were the most traumatic, emotionally challenging and scaring years of my life. Read my blog about 'Public Education' and you'll learn more about my hatred. I graduated from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh where I met my wonderfully strange, talented and creative husband. I met and made amazing friends and THOSE were the greatest days of my life thus far. Josh and I were were married in 2000 after dating for three years and moved to FL the year after. I hated FL, still do actually, you couldn't pay me enough to move back there. Those were the most challenging five years of my life and even though they were difficult I would not take it back because I learned many things during that time. I love my family & friends and missed them all terribly when I was away. I didn't realized how much I needed them until my father died of Cancer in 2003, it was at that point when I realized how truly important and essential they were in my life. I am the oldest out of four, and all of us are Sagitarious. What are the odds of that? Well, apparently pretty damn good. My parents seemed to have a 'breeding season' that we all joke about to this day. I have two brothers, Luc, who is 11 months younger than I (my Irish twin, as they say), Ben, who is 13 years younger than myself and one amazing sister, Amberly (Blam or Spam, as she's often referred to) who I couldn't imagine my life without. My husband and I have 2 crazy cats (though, there really is no such thing as a 'normal' cat and if you say you do, you're lying), they are acting as our children until (if ever) the real children come into play. Josh's cat Suki (Madame Suki Liu Koniko: it means beloved kitten) is a Daddy's girl, she's a b/w half Persian and a P.I.M.A! Princess Isadora Opal Sniffler (her names means 'gift of the moon') is the cat I found on November 11th, 2003 a full lunar eclipse, took pity on her and now the evil white ninja tries to kill me on a daily basis!I'm a little strange when it comes to religion. If you ask me about it be prepared for a nice long conversation. I don't believe in racial prejudice, none of us are the same color to begin with and it takes all colors to make a rainbow. I'm not even one color, I'm covered in SPOTS, how's that for bi-colored? The color of our skin only measures the amount of pigment, not our IQ's, love or good intentions. I don't believe in sexual prejudice, because you love who you love, it doesn't see race, size, shape, sex or money, it just IS!! I'm a sever asthmatic, I take over $600 worth of asthma meds to keep me breathing like a mostly normal human being. I was born this way, thanks to second hand smoke my mother inhaled while pregnant and a fall down the attic stairs that caused me to be a preemie with underdeveloped lungs with small air capacity. And, just like most asthmatics I have more allergies than I can remember! Depression runs in the family, I take meds to control the fluctuation of my moods and it helps, though I am still prone to outbreaks now and then, again, refer to my blogs. And for those of you who know me and often ask me why I don't have kids yet is this: I am unable to conceive without the help of Dr's, so until Josh and I are VERY ready for kids, there will be no babies in our future by accident.

My Interests

One odd thing about me is that I collect skeleton keys. I play AD&D, I GM a Modern D20 RPG game, so yes, that would make me an uber nerd. I LOVE the Sims 2, and I don't mean love, I mean love=obsess. My passion in the game is building houses, don't ask me why, it's probably the most monotonous and least liked part of the game, but it's my favorite. I also love Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, like you didn't see that coming w/ my AD&D background, right? I've also been sucked into Silverfall, another RPG video game. And just to make me a little more abnormal (like I really need it) I'm very big into Parapsychology, the study of the supernatural, with a back up of Cryptozoology, the search/study of mysterious/mythical animals. I like Sudoku, I'm not the greatest but it keeps the 'ol gears in the brain moving so they don't rust.

I'd like to meet:

All of the wonderful, strange, unique and amazing people that I've lost contact with over the years and people with common interests. I like people who I can have conversations with, I don't necessarily have to have anything in common with them because I like different views on life but if you're an idiot, please don't bother starting anything with me. I know I'm no Einstein but if you fit any of the following AVOID ME: A) 'dating' someone married B) have 4 kids to 4 different people C) think cars, guns and quads are the greatest things in the world D) a really dumb girly-girl who spends more time on her hair, wishing she were 10lbs lighter because 'oh my god, I am SO fat' and has an amount of shoes greater than her IQ (do you even know what an IQ is?) AND FINALLY E) an egocentric guy who thinks the world revolves around him, he is Gods gift to the female race (because, obviously, they are an inferior people to men), and spend more time looking at yourself in the mirror than your mother and grandmother combined.

Music:

I may not listen to rap, country, gospel or Christian music but I can appreciate the talent, time and effort put into any and all music. Lets see, I like: A Perfect Circle, Marilyn Manson, NIN, Type O, Wumpskut, Garbage, Lacuna Coil, Icon of Coil, Fly Leaf, Ramstien, Cross Breed, VAST, Static X, Sarah McLaughlin, Babble, Enigma, Loreena McKennitt, Puddle of Mud, Portis Head, Orgy, Ten Years, Linkin Park, David Bowie, Alice 'n Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Gravity Kills, Our Lady Peace, Save Ferris, The White Stripes, Rancid, Save Ferris, No Doubt, The Cure, Tatu, Filter,Crossbreed, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Billy Idol, George Michael, The Cars, Culture Club, Crowded House, AH-HA, Information Society, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Michael Jackson (only the 80's stuff, cuz he was the man), Pet Shop Boys, Nirivana, Queen, Tears for Fears, Bush, Prick, Flogging Molly, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship, The Hush Sound, ...OMG, I don't want to go on!! Anyway, you get the idea. No rhyme or reason.

Movies:

I love movies, good ones. All of the Star Wars movies, all of the Indiana Jones movies, Goonies, LOTR, Legend, Labyrinth, Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonle, Office Space, My Neighbor Totoro, Dark Crystal, Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, The Crow, Monty Python and the Holy Grail & the Jabberwocky, Spider Man movies, Xmen movies, Monsters Inc., Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Jurassic Park, Big Trouble in Little China, Practical Magic, Echo, Beowulf, Pan's Labyrinth, Orgazmo, The Army of Darkness, Fantasia...Harry Potter (books are better though), Castle in the Sky, anything by Tim Burton, The Muppet movies, Napolian Dynamite, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Exorcist, Nasica and the Valley of the Winds. Hmmm...I'm noticing that my movie likes are just as mangled as my music likes. This could tell you something...

Television:

For starters, I HATE REALITY TV! (When did the human race become a bunch of self absorbed, sadistic voyeurs?) My favorites are Family Guy, Futurama, The Simpson, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, Robot Chicken, American Dad, Heros, Medium, Ghost Whisperer, Chuck (because I like a girl in a short skirt and a llooonnngg Jacket!), Men In Trees, late night PBS, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International and Paranormal State. Wow, I watch A LOT of cartoons.

Books:

I love books, sometimes I'll pick up a book and realize I've already read it, like 10 years ago or something. The Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis), The Witching Hour series (Anne Rice), Memory, Sorrow & Thorn series (Tad Williams), Harry Potter series (what was her name again?), The Hobbit and The Lord of the Ring series (some guy), The Belgariad, The Mallorian, The Elenium and the The Tamuli series, Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress series (David Eddings), The Lioness, the Immortal Wars and the Lady Knight series (Tamora Peirce), ALL of the Shannara series (Terry Brooks), Eragon and Eldest (Christoper Paolini), Alice in Wonderland and Alice threw the Looking Glass (Lewis Carroll), The Scent of Magic (Andre Norton)and Fairy Tale (Raymond E. Feist). There are loads others but really, those are the ones I've read more than once. Hard to believe someone can spend that much time reading, and more than once. Been rereading some H.P. Lovecraft recently. He's crazy! when I sit back and think that he wrote his short stories in the early 1900's it blows my mind! He was a freaking genius, scary, yes, but a GENIUS!! And I kinda have a thing for the magazine Heavy Metal, I can't help it, I must have been a guy in a past life who liked being dominated by the opposite sex.

Heroes:

My Mom, because she's strong and doesn't even know it. She's the pillar of the family and the center of the circle that myself and my siblings protect. My Grandmothers, in a time when women were below their husbands they prevailed over longterm hardships. My siblings, because they are all strong, talented, imaginative, creative, intelligent and loving people. Toni DeTerlizzi (I have signed art from him that I droll over daily!! Thank you x1000000 Mr.Duval!!) Joe Madd(we have the same Bday) My husband, Josh, because he's creative, hard working, dedicated, loving, imaginative, unique, caring, funny and one of the hardest working people I know. And he gets me, not many men can say that but he can because he does. And last but certainly not least, my Dad. He wasn't a good father but he was an amazing friend. He passed onto me the love of books, imagination, nature, creativity, a sense of humor, his devotion and love of family, to 'THINK & TRY', to never hit girls, and most importantly his love. (Some may think it's strange or even gross but I wear a necklace EVERY DAY that has a capsule of his hair in it.)
